Robinson and Adebayo Run the Show for Miami

Duncan Robinson stole the hearts of Heat fans with his instant catch and shooting. The Heat have longed for a consistent outside shooter since its days where Ray Allen did the bulk of the outside work. The rookie, whom was once a Division 3 basketball player before transferring to Michigan, signed a two way deal with Miami hours before tip off.

Unlike most Summer League teams, the Miami Heat don’t have a rookie first rounder that lures their fan base to Vegas. Instead, in typical Pat Riley fashion, the Heat have built their roster on guys who understand the ‘Heat Way’: defense is ALWAYS first. Miami has put their faith in  freakishly athletic big man Bam Adebayo, to control the paint and lead his Summer League squad. Adebayo did appear in 68 games with Miami this past season, but struggled with a lack of offensive game. Adebayo proved his doubters wrong when he scored 24 points (14-16 from FT line) against the Utah Jazz.

Grayson Allen showing his NBA worth

Grayson Allen was one of the more talked about the rookies in this year’s class. For both good and bad reasons, everyone knew one thing about Allen. He plays his heart out. A diamond in the rough for Utah, Allen hopes to give Jazz fans the same buzz his former ACC foe, Donovan Mitchell, provided this year. Allen has done just that with his Summer League play. While his shot hasn’t dropped as consistently as he’s hoped for, Allen has shown his elite athletic ability dunking every chance he gets. He also hasn’t failed to show off the defensive principles he absorbed during his four year tenure at Duke. If Allen can continue to provide solid shooting ability, strong on ball defense, and tip top athleticism, he will without a doubt see that Utah floor come October.
