ACC Basketball News and Weekly Headlines

Notre Dame Hangs on for Win Against Boston College

Notre Dame’s Prentiss Hubb scored the last six points for the Fighting Irish in their overtime win over Boston College. Paul Atkinson and Nate Laszewski used their size to dominate down low after Boston College had lost big men to fouls. The two combined for the first seven points in OT.

In overtime, Boston College’s Kanye Jones hit a three to cut the Notre Dame lead to one with 39 seconds left. Hubb then went on his scoring run, hitting a shot inside and then stealing a pass, leading to two free throws. Boston College’s Makai Ashton-Langford hit another three to cut the lead to two. Hubb made his last two free throws to win the game for the Fighting Irish.

Duke Beats Wake Forest in Final Seconds

After Coach K had left the game due to illness, Jon Scheyer took over as head coach. A second-half comeback by Wake Forest gave them a late tie. A Paolo Banchero missed shot was rebounded and dunked by Mark Williams to give Duke a two-point lead with 0.4 seconds left.

On the desperation chance, the Demon Deacons attempted a full-court shot. Wake Forest’s Domari Mansanto heaved a one-handed throw that bounced off of the backboard and the rim and missed.

This game, along with their win over Florida State, gave Duke the lead in the ACC. With a matchup against Virginia on the horizon, the Blue Devils have a true opportunity to prove that they deserve that number one spot.
