Taking a look at the best Week 13 NFL Survivor Pool Picks, including the New England Patriots.
If you are unaware of what NFL Survivor picks are, the basic concept is you make NFL picks throughout the season, but you can only pick a team once. Once you lose, you’re knocked out, so choose your Week 13 NFL Survivor Pool picks wisely.
If you are new to reading my survivor articles, what I do is outline my “lock of the week,” my “value of the week,” and my “high-risk, high-reward pick of the week.”
The “lock” details what team I think has the best chance of winning their matchup. This will most likely be a good team that plays a bad team.

New England Patriots vs New York Giants
The New England Patriots enter Week 13 as 7.5-point favorites in a rematch of two of the most memorable Super Bowls in recent history. I expect this game to go a little differently than those games, though. The Patriots enter the week as the first team to get to that 10-win mark this season, and you can call them frauds or talk about a weak schedule, but they just continue to beat the teams that are put in front of them. A lot of that has to do with how well Drake Maye is playing this season. Currently leading the NFL in passing yards, it has become obvious that Maye has the tools to be a franchise-changer in New England. Looking at the Giants’ defense, outside of that front seven, which is very injured, there is nothing that scares you. In fact, I would say that the secondary is one of the worst units in the NFL. On top of that, we saw what Jahmyr Gibbs did last week against the Giants. Built in that same ilk is TreVeyeon Henderson. Now, I don’t think Henderson explodes as Gibbs did, but it would make sense to use Henderson in a similar role to Gibbs’ last week. Even with the Giants’ stellar defensive line, the Patriots can attack both through the air and on the ground in a variety of ways with Hunter Henry, Stefon Diggs and Rhamondre Stevenson.
When looking at the Giants’ offense, we are banking on Jaxson Dart to come in and immediately pick right back up. I think with rookies, we have to temper expectations when coming back from an injury, because that first year is really the learn it year, and then having to possibly relearn something that you already had learned can be overwhelming. Christian Gonzalez should be able to take away one-third of the field for the Giants defense, so they only have 66% to work with, I am not sure how effective Dart is this week.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Tennessee Titans
While we can continue to make jokes about how Trevor Lawrence is not the next coming of Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck, we have to say that the Jaguars are objectively playing good football. In his first year running the show, Liam Coen, who I think is one of the better offensive minds in the NFL, has schemed Lawrence and this run game into good spots. I think that continues this week, as there is nothing that really scares you about the Titans’ defense. Travis Etienne should be able to run away from Tennessee’s best part of the defense, the interior defensive line and hit the edges for big gains. That will help to settle Lawrence in. I think this could be a big bounce-back game for Brian Thomas Jr., as the Titans’ secondary does not pose much of a threat. In the midst of a playoff run, what better way to get your big-name receiver going than against a division rival?
As for the Titans offense with no real serious threat of a run game, this is going to have to be a Cam Ward put the team on my back kind of game. The issue with that is that I don’t think Ward alone can keep up with the Jacksonville offense. I would imagine that the Titans are playing from behind in this game, so Ward will have to air it out. Jacksonville is a team that you can move the ball through the air on, but they have been very good at creating turnovers. With all rookie quarterbacks, there will be a couple of turnover-worthy balls thrown this game, which is something that the Jags should be able to take advantage of.

Atlanta Falcons vs New York Jets
Given that they do not have a first-round pick this coming draft, there is no real reason why the Atlanta Falcons need to lose this game. In fact, I would imagine that they would rather win it. They do enter the week as 2.5-point favorites after beating up on the Saints. While he has not been great since moving to Atlanta, the Falcons do have the experienced quarterback in Kirk Cousins running the show. Either way, this should theoretically be a Bijan Robinson game, as I don’t think that the Jets can really stop him. Quinnen Williams is gone, Quincy Williams isn’t playing as much, and all of a sudden, that great defense looks like a shell of its former self. I am not worried about Atlanta moving the ball in this game, even with Drake London hurt. Darnell Mooney and Kyle Pitts, while not great, are more than capable of being able to move the ball through the air.
Defensively, the Falcons need to focus on stopping the run game. Once Breece Hall is neutralized, there is almost no threat when it comes to the passing game. Tyrod Taylor is not a big threat with his arm, and looking at his receivers, the best pass catcher in this room is probably Mason Taylor. Unfortunately for the Jets, the Falcons have been really good at limiting opposing tight ends this season. That means the Jets need to rely on guys like John Metchie III to be the driving force in this offense. Neither of these teams is particularly good, so give me the obvious choice of the better two in the Atlanta Falcons.
