Industry experts give their advice on which players they are officially panicking about heading into fantasy football Week 5, including Ladd McConkey!

While it is important not to overreact and jump to conclusions early in the fantasy football season, we have a month of football in the rear-view mirror. Yes, we are still early in the season, but if your team’s record is 1-3 or 0-4, how much longer can you wait without taking action? Not long. Several top-end players have really struggled to start this season. After spending an early draft pick on them, you are justified to panic a bit, but should you?

Time to Panic in Fantasy Football Week 5? | Fantasy Experts Sound Off

Chris Chous (Cover 1 Fantasy Football) — Ladd McConkey, WR, Chargers

Disappointment is truly an understatement for Ladd McConkey fantasy owners! Ranking inside our top 15 before draft season kicked off, everything pointed up from last season’s success! The Los Angeles Chargers offense was one we promoted heavily this offseason, but overshadowing McConkey are teammates Keenan Allen and Quentin Johnston! Panic time is in full force here!

Geoff Lambert (GoingFor2) — Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Cardinals

After being really high on Marvin Harrison Jr. this offseason, I’m starting to get nervous about his ability to finish as a top 24 WR. Yes, Week 4 was a good week, but it was saved by a big fourth quarter that included a touchdown. However, in the first three quarters of that game, he had a terrible drop (not his first this season), and his body language made him look defeated. Maybe that fourth quarter will catapult him to a strong “rest of season”, but I am definitely nervous about it.

Zach Brunner (FlurrySports) — Mike Evans, WR, Buccaneers

Yes, I’m panicking about a wide receiver who’s injured, but a 32-year-old Mike Evans doesn’t bounce back in the same way he used to. Evans missed last week with a hamstring injury and is likely to miss at least two more games (including this week). But… then what? This is an aging player with chronic soft tissue injuries playing in the most crowded WR room of his career. Evans was drafted as WR16, on average. He totaled just 140 yards through three games without Chris Godwin while Emeka Egbuka got used to the NFL. Evans’ role doesn’t get any bigger from here, if he can even find the field consistently.

Trevor Land (FlurrySports) — Brian Thomas Jr., WR, Jaguars

I’m officially worried about Brian Thomas Jr. It was clear there would be some regression with him, but this much is certainly alarming. Not only is he not catching the ball, but he’s not getting many opportunities to do that either. The Jaguars refuse to focus their passing attack on him, which has resulted in just one game where he’s had more than seven targets.

Luke Reimer (FlurrySports) — Alvin Kamara, RB, Saints

I am panicking about Alvin Kamara. Given the New Orleans Saints’ struggles on offense this year (they have not played a snap with the lead yet), partnered with a horrible defense, it is hard to believe that New Orleans will ever be in a position to effectively run the ball. On top of that, he is not catching that many passes this year like we have seen in the past. With Kendre Miller healthy, that limits his running opportunities that much more. A rookie coach partnered with bad quarterback play on top of a bad defense, and there is not a lot of hope for Kamara, especially if he is not traded.
