Looking at the best college football bets for Week 3 of the NCAA season. This week includes Oregon against Northwestern.
Week 3 of the college football season brings a lot of excitement, as conference games start picking up across all leagues. Oregon hits the road for the first time against Northwestern, while South Carolina and LSU look to go to 1-0 in SEC play at home. Here are the three best college football bets to target this weekend!
Best College Football Bets For Week 3
No. 4 Oregon at Northwestern
Oregon football has been on a tear to start the 2025 season, entering Week 3 at 2-0 after routing Oklahoma State, 69-3, last week in Eugene. Northwestern is 1-1 after knocking off FCS foe Western Illinois, 42-7. This will be an early kickoff for the Ducks, as they travel to Northwestern for their first road game of the year. However, that doesn’t scare me in this matchup. Oregon is significantly better than Northwestern, and I don’t think the Wildcats’ defense will be able to slow down the Ducks’ high-powered offense.
Oregon has outscored its opponents, 128-16, in its first two games. Meanwhile, Northwestern has played one FBS opponent so far, Tulane – and they lost 23-3.
This could be a slow start for the Ducks due to the early kickoff, but expect them to flex their muscles as the game goes and expect them to cover on the road against Northwestern.
Best College Football Bets: Oregon -28.5
Vanderbilt at No. 11 South Carolina
South Carolina opens SEC play with a home game against a Vanderbilt team coming off a 44-20 road win at Virginia Tech. The Gamecocks are coming off a home win against South Carolina State, 38-10. USC also has a win against Virginia Tech this year, 24-11.
Diego Pavia is coming off a strong game against the Hokies, where he threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns while also running for 63 yards and a pair of scores. The Commodores racked up 490 total yards of offense and outscored Virginia Tech, 34-0, in the second half.
South Carolina’s win over South Carolina State wasn’t overly impressive. They trailed 3-0 after a quarter before scoring 38 straight points to take control. Still, they got outgained in total yardage, 270-253.
LaNorris Sellers entered the season with Heisman expectations, but hasn’t had that breakout game yet to get him into that conversation. Expect that to finally change this week. I expect Sellers to have a big game in their SEC opener and lead the Gamecocks to a big win over Vanderbilt.
Best College Football Bets: South Carolina -4.5
Florida at No. 3 LSU
Another marquee SEC matchup this week features LSU taking on Florida under the lights in Death Valley. LSU comes into the week 2-0, with wins over Clemson and Louisiana Tech. Florida games in 1-1, after a home loss to South Florida.
Neither team has looked overly impressive, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. But LSU has one of the best wins in the country with a road win at Clemson in Week 1.
Florida is desperate after the loss at home last week, and if they fall here on the road, we could be seeing the end of the Billy Napier era in Gainesville. But I really like Garrett Nussmeier, and I expect Death Valley to be rocking Saturday night. This will be one of the best atmospheres in the country. I expect LSU to cover the spread here against Florida.
Best College Football Bets: LSU -7.5
