When is the 2025 NFL Draft?
The 2025 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 24, beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The draft will take place in Green Bay, WI, which brings plenty of potential challenges. Only Round 1 will take place on Thursday. Rounds 2-3 will take place on April 25th, with the remaining four rounds wrapping up on Sunday, April 26th. There will be 257 players selected across the seven rounds, with many more getting phone calls immediately afterward.

Strengths
Jalen Royals is a smart player with great instincts. He sees the whole field well, and he knows where the soft spots will be. While not the greatest athlete, Royals has great body control and is smooth with his routes. With the ball in his hands, he’s tough to bring down. He is also great versus press coverage, and he will attack the ball and quickly get upfield.
Weaknesses
Again, Royals isn’t a great athlete. His top speed is a gear below most receivers, and it takes him a bit to get to that speed. And while Royals is good against press coverage and also runs crisp routes, this lack of athleticism meant he did not have much separation in college. This will be made worse in the NFL.

Jalen Royals Draft Projection | Expert 2025 NFL Mock Draft Projections
This Jalen Royals draft projection is taken from a late-March mock draft on ESPN. In this mock, Matt Miller has him getting selected in the third round, 71st overall, by the New Orleans Saints. Given the health and depth of the Saints’ receiving corps, Royals would have the opportunity to be a solid contributor right away.
