It is going to be a massive Week 18 for the Cincinnati Bengals and All-Pro wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase. We know that the Bengals’ playoff chances are slim heading into their matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, that won’t stop this team from giving it their all. On top of playoff aspirations, Chase has a little extra to play for as well.

Chase bet on himself this offseason, standing his ground when it came to contract negotiations. There is no doubt that the gamble was worth it. Due to his terrific play this season, Ja’Marr Chase could break three Cincinnati Bengals franchise records in Week 18.

    Ja’Marr Chase Stats 2024-25

Heading into Week 18, Ja’Marr Chase’s stats have been outstanding. We can expect another great game from him as well since quarterback Joe Burrow said that he will target Chase often to “make sure” he gets the league’s receiving triple crown — league leader in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns.

As it stands, these are Chase’s stats through 17 weeks of action:

    • 161 Targets
    • 117 Receptions*
    • 1,612 Receiving Yards*
    • 16 Receiving Touchdowns*
    • 100.8 Receiving Yards/Game*

Ja’Marr Chase Could Break Cincinnati Bengals Franchise Records This Week

This season for Chase has already been legendary and is deserving of far more credit than it feels like he is being given right now. He has already two Cincinnati Bengals franchise records this season, and more could be coming.

Ja’Marr Chase has broken the record for most single-season receptions in Bengals history. This record was once held by T.J. Houshmandzadeh who caught 112 passes in 2007. Chase has also broken his own franchise record for most single-season receiving yards. Obviously, he will extend his lead for both records this week.

Chase also has a chance to break a record that has stood for 30 seasons. Carl Pickens holds the single-season Bengals record for most receiving touchdowns, with 17. This means Ja’Marr Chase needs one touchdown reception to tie Pickens and two to break the record. It seems like fate with Chase facing the Steelers and George Pickens.

    Cincinnati Bengals’ Playoff Chances

The Cincinnati Bengals face an uphill battle to make the playoffs this season. The 1-4 record to start the season was a tough hole to climb out of, despite Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase playing out of their minds.

As it stands right now, the Bengals have a 6% chance to make the NFL Playoffs, according to NFL Next Gen Stats. Obviously, Cincinnati must first take care of business against Pittsburgh in order to have any kind of shot at the postseason. It is a tough matchup and a record-breaking performance from Ja’Marr Chase may honestly be needed in order to get the win.

If Cincinnati does win, they would also need the Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins to both lose as well in order to make the playoffs.
