NFL Power Rankings Week 7

NFL Power Rankings Week 2: Refs Need to Knock It Off

Let’s do a quick NFL Power Rankings for the things I disliked most in the first week of the season:

  1. Illegal formation penalties
  2. Injuries
  3. The new kickoff
  4. Bears fans who think their team did something worth bragging about
  5. Deshaun Watson’s existence

Now back to your regularly schedule program. Our weekly NFL Power Rankings will be released here on FlurrySports every Tuesday, so make sure to check them out every single week to see which direction your team is trending.

The first week in the NFL brought a ton of terrible football. However, there were a few teams that were clearly head and shoulders better than most of the league. Let’s take a look at where your favorite team ranks in the Week 2 NFL Power Rankings.

NFL Power Rankings For Week 1

1) Kansas City Chiefs (Last Week: 1)

The Kansas City Chiefs took care of business in the first game of the season, locking down the top spot in the Week 2 NFL Power Rankings. Travis Kelce was quiet, but it allowed Kansas City to showcase all their other weapons, including speedster Xavier Worthy (thanks, Bills). The defense also showcased plenty of talent, and they will become one of the league’s best defense units in a month or two.

2) San Francisco 49ers (2)

Even without Christian McCaffrey, the San Francisco 49ers had enough offense to defeat a good New York Jets team. The defense was tough and the offense showcases one of the best skill groups in the league, even without McCaffrey. It is tough to imagine an NFC can beat this team if they are healthy.

3) Detroit Lions (4)

The Detroit Lions’ offensive line and strong running from David Montgomery took over in overtime against the Los Angeles Rams, and that is exactly what will be needed for this time to go far in the postseason. However, what was most impressive, and improved from last season, was the defense. The Lions can now pressure with more than just Aidan Hutchinson, and the secondary now has to be respected.

4) Baltimore Ravens (3)

As we said in last week’s NFL Power Rankings, the offensive line will start the year slow. That was very clear in the matchup with the Chiefs, but this is still an outstanding football team. The defense played very well overall, and the offense had plenty of bright moments. This Ravens offense, however, needs to blend the strengths of Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry better.

5) Philadelphia Eagles (6)

It wasn’t pretty, but the Philadelphia Eagles got a Week 1 win over the Green Bay Packers on a sloppy Brazilian field. The offensive line had a few issues, as did Jalen Hurts. However, if Week 1 was any indication, Kellen Moore will be the reason the Eagles do not win the division, if they continue down this path. Defensively, the team had bright moments followed by huge mistakes. They will come around.

6) New York Jets (5)

The New York Jets looked more under control with Aaron Rodgers back. The biggest issue is that their offense wasn’t on the field much, and it’s tough to get into any kind of an offensive rhythm when you sit that long on the sideline. The run defense needs to be better, and Sauce Gardner needs to stay in the game, but it’s very apparent this is a good football team that simply needs a little time to put it together. But will their division give them enough time?

7) Houston Texans (7)

The one thing the Texans did not have last season was a running game, but Joe Mixon was terrific in his Houston debut. The defense needs to tighten up, and Stefon Diggs needs to shut up, but this is very clearly a top-10 team in the NFL Power Rankings. The offense can compete with anyone, and the defense will come around given the coaching and level of talent they have.

8) Dallas Cowboys (10)

The Dallas Cowboys dominated the Cleveland Browns last week, but did they play well? There is zero doubt about this defense, led by Mike Zimmer. They flew around and are going to be a problem. Offensively, however, there is room for improvement. Jake Ferguson is injured, and someone else needs to step up outside of CeeDee Lamb.

9) Pittsburgh Steelers (14)

The Pittsburgh Steelers sit alone atop the AFC North, yet they are one of two teams not to score a touchdown. Still, Arthur Smith called a good game while putting Justin Fields in positions he’s comfortable with. As the offensive line and receiving corps get healthier, this offense will have to improve. If they can do that, this will be a scary team, as the defense looks great once again.

10) Atlanta Falcons (8)

Kirk Cousins does not look healthy, and it impacted the entire offense. It makes you wonder if this team would be better with Michael Penix Jr. Regardless, this offense still has talent all around it, and the defense has playmakers at every level as well. They should still be considered the favorites to win the division, but the play at quarterback will either make or break this team.
