Bo Nix Scouting Report
Strengths
Although this sometimes comes with a negative connotation, Nix has shown the potential to be a reliable game manager. He has good pre-snap recognition and typically knows where he wants to go with the ball before it’s snapped. Bo Nix typically gets the ball out quickly to the read that he recognizes will be open before the play.
Coupled with his feel of who will be open prior to the snap, Nix is a good athlete who can extend plays with his legs. At Oregon, he was not asked to be a processor but rather relied on screens, RPOs, and one-read concepts. If those were taken away, Nix has the athleticism to escape from pass rushers and gain yards on the ground.
Weaknesses
Although he put up video game numbers last season at Oregon, Nix can struggle when plays get off schedule. Nearly 30 percent of his passes in 2023 were thrown behind the line of scrimmage which led to some beneficiary numbers. Also, he struggles with accuracy and has some decision-making question marks when blitzed or forced to extend plays.
