The first college basketball game of the Jimmy V Classic is a clash between two ranked teams in Illinois and Florida Atlantic. Florida Atlantic has only been tested once but they passed it with a 96-89 win over #21 Texas A&M. Outside of an upset to Bryant, they have looked good this year and have a chance to make another statement with a second ranked win this season.
Illinois has only had one test against a ranked opponent which ended as a narrow home loss to #8 Marquette. That loss is the only one on their resume and none of their other wins have been by less than 11 points.
