Fantasy football is officially back! When it comes to the tight end position, fantasy managers can either aim for an elite tight end in mid-rounds where they could’ve added more depth at other positions, or they look for fantasy football streamers on the waiver wire. Streaming a tight end each week can be a nightmare because the position is essentially a wasteland more often than not, aside from the usual top options.
However, if you’ve taken this route this year, read on for three Week 1 fantasy football streamers at TE that are worth your consideration.
Players must be owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues to be included in the Week 1 fantasy football TE streamers column. All ownerships for players will be provided and will reflect that of Wednesday morning, once waivers are processed.
Week 1 Fantasy Football TE Streamers
Hayden Hurst, CIN vs PIT (19.0%)
Not enough people have talked about the addition of Hayden Hurst to the Cincinnati Bengals offense, leaving him as the TE1. The Bengals are obviously high-powered and, if one of their star receivers isn’t open, Hurst will be. The tight end position is tough, but at under 19 percent ownership, he could return very solid value against the Steelers. PIT allowed just 6.1 fantasy points per game (FPPG) last season, but it’ll be hard to slow down the Bengals’ passing attack and weapons.

Albert Okwuegbunam, DEN at SEA (17.1%)
With the addition of Russell Wilson to the offense, the passing game sees a significant boost. Albert Okwuegbunam has the potential to be a sneaky good fantasy football tight end against the Seahawks. He could easily post a top-10 tight end finish for Week 1. The Seahawks allowed the eighth-most FPPG to opposing tight ends last year. In Wilson’s “revenge game,” Albert O could see plenty of looks. At such low ownership, there’s a good chance he’ll be sitting on the fantasy football waiver wire.
Gerald Everett, LAC vs LV (11.9%)
Gerald Everett has never been fantasy relevant during his career, but he now plays for one of the league’s high-powered offenses. The Los Angeles Chargers will continue to build around Justin Herbert and give him weapons, and that’s what they saw with Everett. He has the potential to be a TE2 this season, but in a divisional matchup against one of the league’s worst defenses against tight ends, he could easily finish with double-digit fantasy points.
