In the second PPV of 2022, UFC 271 was an exciting one. The main card had a couple of knockouts, a submission and two fights that went the distance. The PPV was capped off with a middleweight title fight of Israel Adesanya vs Robert Whittaker. After winning by unanimous decision, many have been asking how much did Israel Adesanya make? Let’s take a look at the full UFC 271 payouts from Saturday’s event.

UFC 271 Payouts and Win Bonuses

The official UFC 271 payouts are not released, though we can make a strong estimation for pay based off of previous fights. Israel Adesanya is on the first fight of his new “lucrative contract,” so we know he made more than before, but how much more is unknown.

UFC 271 Bonuses

Much like other events, UFC bonuses of $50,000 are given to the fighters of the “fight of the night,” as well as two performance bonuses.

Fight of the Night: Douglas Silva de Andrade vs Sergey Morozov

The Fight of the Night from UFC 271 actually came from the early prelims. It’s the fight of Douglas Silva de Andrade vs Sergey Morozov that will be rewarded with a bit of bonus cash.

Early in the fight, some ground strikes from Morozov resulted in a deep cut by the eye of Silva. However, Silva stayed the course and survived to the second round. In the second, a shot to the eye of Silva halted the bout, but when it resumed, Silva dropped Morozov, and it eventually led to a rear naked choke victory.

Performance Bonuses: Tai Tuivasa and Jared Cannoneir

These two worthy fighters will be walking away with $50,000 extra as well. In Match 3, Jared Cannoneir was in trouble early. He spent much of the fight on his back. He was taken down in the second round again, but he was able to get back upright and land a nice shot on Brunson. More hits led to the fight going to the mat, where Cannoneir got the knockout victory.

It seemed as though Tai Tuivasa was here for a good time and to collect a big check. However, he spoiled the party for the hometown hero Derrick Lewis, bringing him to 0-2 in Houston. Lewis was able to take down Tuivasa and bounce his head off the back of the cage several times in the first round. Tuiavasa stayed the course and held his own. In the second round, the two were in close, let shots fly, and an elbow from Tuivasa brought the knockout king down to the mat.

How Much Did Israel Adesanya Make?

In the main event of the night, Israel Adesanya successfully defended his middleweight title against Robert Whittaker for the second time. The fight ended up going the distance, where many, including Whittaker, felt the challenger did enough to win. The end result was a unanimous decision in favor of the champ, resulting in many wondering how much did Israel Adesanya make for UFC 271.

The official answer is unclear. Adesanya has made between $500,000-600,000 in guaranteed base pay for his past several fights. However, the champ recently signed a lucrative multi-fight deal that is thought to make him among the highest-paid fighters in the UFC.

Assuming this is true, we can believe Adesanya was guaranteed at least one million dollars for this fight. He also gets a share of the PPV purchases, which was projected to be about $600,000. So, the champ likely made north of $1.6 million for this fight even before sponsorships are considered.

Again, as always, the official numbers will not be officially known. With this PPV being held in Texas, there’s an added layer of secrecy to these salaries, but these UFC 271 payouts are a strong estimation.
