Bad gets worse for the New York Jets and New York Giants. Both losing franchises are simply trying to limp into the offseason, which is their favorite part of the season. However, one fan will not let them go gentle into the night. Instead, the fan is suing the two New Jersey-based franchises for six billion dollars. Let’s explore this New York Jets and New York Giants lawsuit.
New York Jets and New York Giants Lawsuit
The fact that the Jets and Giants publicly display the name “New York” has been a point of contention for quite some time, since the two franchises play their home games at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Finally, one New York hero has stepped up to the plate and is absolutely swinging. He is demanding change.
A $6 billion lawsuit has been filed by Abdiell Suero that demands both the Jets and Giants leave MetLife Stadium and return to playing their home games in the state of New York by 2025. He is also asking both teams be rebranded to the East Rutherford Jets and Giants for the remainder of their stay in New Jersey.
The Giants have played in East Rutherford since 1976 after playing at Yankee Stadium. The Jets moved in 1984, after playing at Shea Stadium in Queens.
“If the Giants and Jets want to call themselves New York teams, they need to come back to New York,” said Suero. “I’ve traveled to and from MetLife Stadium by mass transit and car service, and both ways are a nightmare.”
The Jets and Giants Stink
Accusing the two teams of false advertising and deceptive practices, the lawsuit seeks $2 billion in monetary damages and $4 billion in punitive damages. The lawsuit claims all Jets and Giants fans that live in New York have suffered “mental and emotional damage, including depression, sadness and anxiety … as a result of the Defendants’ conduct.”
The Giants issued a statement in response to the lawsuit, declaring that “this case has no merit and we will defend it vigorously.” The Jets have not commented on the matter yet.
Essentially, these two franchises are so bad that New Yorkers are depressed that they are falsely using their state’s name. If they want to use the name, then they need to come back and really feel the heat from these fans instead of hiding in New Jersey.
This is stupid, hilarious, and I cannot wait to see how the Jets and Giants mess this up.
