The Celtics had a tall task ahead of them in Game 1, and to be in the game into the fourth quarter is impressive in itself. Without Jaylen Brown and with their inconsistent at best play even with him in the lineup, this team is no match for the Nets. The only way for Boston to win is to either get lucky and get an off night by the Nets, or have Jayson Tatum play out of his mind and drop 50+ points. Even with Brad Stevens being one of the best coaches in the NBA, even he can do so much. It’ll be tough to match the firepower of Brooklyn and we’ll see what he has in mind for Game 2.
Brooklyn has basically been penciled in to the next round by fans in their brackets before the NBA Playoffs even started, and Game 1 showed why. Even on off nights from Harden and Harris, the Nets were just too much for the Celtics. The one big flaw of Brooklyn is their lack of an inside presence. Fortunately for Brooklyn, Boston doesn’t have a player that can impose their will in the post and make them pay. If Brooklyn plays their game, they should be in good shape in Game 2.
