The Cleveland Browns had a successful first day of the 2021 NFL Draft. Their patience paid off early in the draft, landing defensive players Greg Newsome II and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah after they had dropped. As the clock started again on the third day, the Browns had filled a majority of the holes on the roster. Many predicted the Browns would be searching for line depth, and other possible players whose stock had fallen over the weekend. Let’s take a look at the Day 3 Browns draft grades.

Browns Draft Grades and Analysis For Day 3 Picks

OT James Hudson, Cincinnati (Pick 110)

James Hudson is a former defensive lineman who made the switch to the offensive side of the ball. Obviously, he’s still a bit raw as an offensive tackle. He needs to strengthen and improve his pass set, but he is definitely not afraid of contact. In the run game, he was very good this past year. His run blocking shows a lot of power, and his long range helps him in pass protection. While this is a work in progress, it’s never to early to start thinking about the future.

    Grade: B

DT Tommy Togiai, Ohio State (Pick 132)

Tommy Togiai had a great season at Ohio State this past fall. He and teammate Haskell Garrett were two of the most fearsome interior defensive linemen in the country. Togiai has exceptional upper body strength that he uses in the trenches to get by bigger offensive linemen. Right off the bat, he will be a good run stopper for the Browns defense, but as he gets more experienced, he can work himself into a fearsome pass rusher. With the loss of Sheldon Richardson, Togiai is a great rookie to pick up where Richardson left off.

    Grade: B+

LB Tony Fields II, West Virginia (Pick 153)

Tony Fields II is a bit of a mystery. He’s an undersized linebacker that was able to play in space in West Virginia’s defense. He has outstanding range, but can get stuck on blocks. Fields will be an immediate contributor on special teams, and with a good summer camp, he could be in the linebacker rotation for the Browns.

    Grade: B

S Richard LeCounte, Georgia (Pick 169)

Richard LeCounte has had an up and down road to the NFL. LeCounte figured to be one of the best returning defensive backs in the nation. However, he had a rough fall for the Bulldogs. He was in a motorcycle accident in the fall that he was lucky to skate out of with no major injuries. He also had a poor pro-day performance. However, he was a high school standout and is a capable special teams return man. He will be stuck behind John Johnson III, Ronnie Harrison and Grant Delpit on the depth chart, but he could work his way into the rotation.

    Grade: B

RB Demetric Felton, UCLA (Pick 211)

The Browns got a steal drafting Demetric Felton in the sixth round. While he might be one of the most raw prospects in the 2021 NFL Draft, he’s incredibly talented. He will be listed as a running back behind Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, but he can also catch passes with the best of them. His route-running is more polished than most wide receivers. As stated, Felton will likely be listed as a running back, but the real designation for him is ATH, Athlete.

    Grade: A-
