Browns Wide Receiver Targets in the 2021 NFL Draft

While the Cleveland Browns wide receivers are one of the best position groups on the team, there is always room for improvement. In our three-round mock draft, the Browns took LSU wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. with the 26th pick. Marshall is an exciting player with tons of potential. While Marshall would add many dimensions to an already dangerous offense, there are other Browns draft targets at the wide receiver position.

Browns Draft Targets at Wide Receiver | 2021 NFL Draft

Terrace Marshall Jr., LSU

Terrace Marshall Jr. is another LSU wide receiver. As of late, it seems like the Tigers are the farm system for the Cleveland Browns. Players such as Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry and Grant Delpit all played their college ball down in Bayou. Marshall had an outstanding last season. He played in seven games, racking up 731 receiving yards and catching a whopping 10 touchdowns. Marshall has arms that widen his catch radius. On top of that, he should be a deep ball threat right from the start. The only real knock on Marshall is that, at times, he loses focus and intensity when playing. However, I don’t see that being an issue in the NFL. If Marshall is on the board at 26, it would be hard for general manager Andrew Berry to pass on the lengthy wide receiver.

Rondale Moore, Purdue

Rondale Moore really put himself on the map in the Boilermakers’ huge upset of Ohio State in 2018. During that game, Moore, a true freshman at the time, caught 12 passes for 170 yards and found the end zone twice. Since then, Moore has had injury problems. He missed nearly the entire 2019 season with a knee injury. Moore’s injury history is part of the reason that his stock has slipped lately. But even with his knee injuries, experts seem to wonder if his frame can hold up in the NFL. Either way, whoever drafts the quick, explosive wide receiver will be getting a player who has the ability to give the offense a new dimension.

Elijah Moore, Ole Miss

The other “Moore” had an incredible 2020 season for Ole Miss. The small, but consistent pass catcher reeled in 86 passes for almost 1,200 yards. Elijah Moore also found the end zone eight times this past year. Had DeVonta Smith not had the season that he did, Moore would have been the best receiver in the country, stats wise. The biggest knock on Moore is of course his frame. He stands at 5-9, 180 lbs. Scouts seem to be worried that he put up video game numbers because of the offensive system he was in at Ole Miss. Either way, Moore could still be there for the Browns in the second round, even if they need to move up a little to grab him.

With all that being said, it’s quite possible the Browns don’t draft a receiver at all in the 2021 NFL Draft. It would be smart to add some depth at the position, but the Browns seem to want to keep Baker Mayfield’s supporting cast entirely the same. They did win their first playoff game in 20 years this past year, so fans should trust the front office’s decision either way.
