With NFL Free Agency still in full swing over the weekend, Dallas added depth to their defense. Dallas signed five new defensive players to their roster over the weekend and early Monday.
Keanu Neal Brings A Versatile Treat
Over the weekend, the Dallas Cowboys signed former Falcons safety Keanu Neal to a one-year deal worth $5 million. This was a move that was reported to happen late last week on Twitter. Especially because of Neal’s ties to the Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who previously coached Neal in Atlanta.
ESPN reported that Neal is expected to play as both safety and a linebacker in the upcoming season, making him a versatile threat for Dan Quinn.
Cowboys Free Agency Signings on Monday
As we reported last week, Dallas made multiple other deals with unrestricted free agents to add some much-needed depth and TLC to the defensive side of the ball. But these five players signed to America’s Team on Monday.
These newly-signed Dallas Cowboys included:
- DT Brent Urban (1 year)
- DE Tarell Basham (2 years)
- DT Carlos Watkins (1 year)
- LS Jake McQuaide (1 year)
- T Ty Nsekhe (1 year)
What Could Come Next to Add Depth to the Defense
Reports started circulating during the weekend that possible deals could be made with two more defensive platers.
Colts safety Malik Hooker is rumored to be visiting Dallas this week. Keep in mind, Hooker suffered a torn Achilles last season and only played two games.
Another Falcons player could transition to Dallas. Safety Damontae Kazee is, reportedly, visiting the Cowboys facility as well. Kazee was drafted by the Falcons in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft and led the NFL in interceptions back in 2018.
We will continue to watch what other moves Jerry Jones makes and other issues he addresses during Cowboys free agency.
