Patrick Mahomes put on a show last season, putting together one of the greatest quarterback seasons of all time en route to his first MVP. With a full cast of weapons at his disposal, he currently is the favorite to repeat as the NFL MVP (+400).

If we know anything about the MVP award in the NFL, it’s a mix of team winning percentage and if you play quarterback, with a little bit of comparative individual performance mixed in. Drew Brees is second in odds to win MVP (+700). Unlike Mahomes, it’s not because Brees dominated the league last season or even will this year. He is still an elite quarterback, but this is mostly because the Saints have a chance to finish with the best regular season record.

Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck are tied for third (+800). Rodgers has the unique chance to give the state of Wisconsin three-straight MVPs, after the Brewers’ Christian Yelich and the Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo won the awards.

This NFL season is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in recent years, with the power seemingly shifting. The MVP award will be just as competitive and will be a hot topic until the playoffs.
