Good thing for you, I have one player that you can take a shot on to help turn things around come the second half of the NFL season. Buy Low on Jordan Addison | Fantasy Football Trade Value Week 8
While Underperforming, Jordan Addison is on the Field for a Large Majority of Minnesota’s Offensive Snaps
As it stands, Jordan Addison is currently sitting at WR72 in half-point PPR formats, making him unstartable at this point in the season. For those who drafted Jordan Addison, expectations were high given the quality of the Vikings’ offense on paper. That WR72 number alone is enough to make fantasy managers want to drop him, but if the manager in your league is hanging on to him, it is certainly worth floating a trade their way.
The top thing that is working in Addison’s favor is how often he is on the field. Although he missed Minnesota’s Week 5 matchup against New Orleans, Addison has been a constant piece in the offense. In fact, Addison has seen 90.4% of Minnesota’s offensive snaps in games that he has played. Other than Justin Jefferson (who has logged 45 fewer snaps than Addison), Addison has by far the highest percentage of offensive snaps for the Vikings.
The problem with that, though, is that the Vikings have not really been put into spots where they have had to throw the football. Given how well their defense has played, as well as matching up with not many of the elite offenses in the NFL, the Vikings have been able to get by, scoring just over 20 points per game. Looking at the Vikings’ upcoming schedule, Detroit, Buffalo, Green Bay and San Francisco are each of Minnesota’s next four matchups, meaning points will be aplenty.
Minnesota Vikings WRs Face a Favorable Strength of Schedule
When looking to make a trade in fantasy football, you must consider what the player’s strength of schedule is that you are trading for. If you are looking to trade for a wide receiver, you probably do not want a player that will match up against Derek Stingley and Christian Gonzalez in Weeks 16 and 17. The good news is that for the Vikings receiving corps and, primarily, Addison, Minnesota has a fairly easy strength of schedule for the rest of the season. Looking ahead, Minnesota has matchups against Detroit (2x), Buffalo, Green Bay, Atlanta, New England, Detroit and Washington. All of those teams are giving up 26.5 points or more to opposing receivers on a per-game basis, meaning that receivers playing against them have to be considered startable in your fantasy starting lineup.
The thing that I like most about this upcoming schedule for Addison is the Week 15 and Week 16 matchups against the Lions and Commanders. Week 15 is probably the quarterfinals, while Week 16 is probably the semifinals in your fantasy football league playoffs, meaning those are must-win games for you. Having a player like Addison who gets to match up against two of the softer secondaries in the NFL is going to pay off dividends, especially since you can probably start Addison at your flex spot. On top of those two matchups, the Vikings still have three fantasy-relevant matchups against NFC North opponents and while the North has been one of the better divisions in the league this season, the same cannot be said about the secondaries in the division.
What is the Jordan Addison Fantasy Trade Value?
As I stated before, Addison has been among the most disappointing players in fantasy football this season, but the high snap share, as well as the favorable strength of schedule, points in the right direction for the Vikings wide receiver.
According to the FlurrySports Fantasy Football Trade Value Tool, Jordan Addison has a value of 16.9. That puts him in a tier with players like Joe Burrow (17.7), Travis Kelce (17.2), Devaughn Vele (17) and Xavier Worthy (16.7). Check out his updated trade value on the FlurrySports Playbook!
In looking to make a fantasy football trade for Addison, a possible trade could revolve around moving a piece like Travis Kelce (Trade Value of 17.2), if you can afford to give up a tight end. This could work if the Jordan Addison fantasy owner needs a TE. If they were a Jalen Hurts or Jaxon Dart owner and have not found an answer yet, moving a player like Burrow (17.7) or Trevor Lawrence (18) makes a lot of sense as well. You may also be more incentivized to trade a player like Garrett Wilson (trade value of 38.3) for Addison and Denzel Boston or Travis Etienne (as he is set to return soon). New Orleans running backs have the eighth-easiest strength of schedule remaining.
It is likely that the Jordan Addison owner in your league is not going to be set on keeping him if you offer a player that can be started. So a low-ceiling player like JK Dobbins could be enough to entice the owner to feel like they are winning the trade, when in reality you are taking a calculated gamble that can pay off big time come the fantasy playoffs.
Making a move for a player like this in fantasy football is a big move, so you need to refer to the FlurrySports Fantasy Football Trade Value tool to best understand what his and what other players’ values are. Play around with the tool and make sure that you are not giving up too much for Odunze, as right now is the best time to buy him in fantasy football.
