Quick answer: Start Cam Skattebo in Week 6. He is a locked-in RB2 with legitimate RB1 upside against the Saints. He’s averaging over 16 carries a game as the Giants’ clear lead back. New Orleans has been the worst run defense in football against running backs, and they have allowed more rushing touchdowns than any team in the league. If you’ve been waiting for Skattebo’s breakout game, this is the best setup he’s had all season.

Cam Skattebo’s 2026 Season So Far

Skattebo has been one of the most frustrating backs in fantasy this year. The workload has been there every week. The production hasn’t. He has yet to finish inside the top 15 at the position, and three of his five games have ended in single digits.

That’s 3.6 yards per carry and one touchdown. It also includes a lost fumble in overtime against Washington that wiped out a likely game-winning field goal try. Most of the numbers don’t look good, but the most important one does: 81 carries in five games.

Why Skattebo’s Volume Still Matters

Fantasy points follow opportunity, and Skattebo’s opportunity hasn’t slipped.

  • 16.2 carries per game and more than 18 touches per game. That is real RB1 workload territory.
  • He’s the clear leader of the backfield. Najee Harris, Tyrone Tracy Jr., and Devin Singletary are all on the roster, but none of them is threatening his early-down role.
  • The offense needs him more now. With Jaxson Dart out for the season after knee surgery, Jameis Winston is under center. Winston has thrown three touchdown passes in back-to-back games. That keeps defenses honest and should open more running room in the red zone.

Cam Skattebo has played 65% of the Giants’ offensive snaps this season, and he also ranks highly with 18.6 looks per game in our Opportunity Index.

Before training camp, John Harbaugh asked Skattebo whether he was ready for 20-plus carries a game. He hasn’t quite reached that number yet, but the coaching staff’s intent is clear.

The Matchup: Saints Run Defense Is a Problem

This is why Week 6 is the week. New Orleans has been run over all season:

  • 148.8 rushing yards allowed per game, second-most in the NFL
  • 10 rushing touchdowns allowed, the most in the league
  • 30.2 points allowed per game, among the worst marks in football
  • Against running backs specifically, the Saints have allowed a league-high 133.4 rushing yards per game and a 48.9% success rate
  • They allow the third-most yards after contact per carry (3.8) to running backs. That plays right into Skattebo’s bruising style.
  • Five running backs have already scored 17 or more fantasy points against them in five games

The Saints are also dealing with injuries in the front seven, including linebacker Kaden Elliss (calf) and edge rusher Anfernee Jennings (knee). The game is at MetLife, and the over/under sits in the mid-40s, so this should be a competitive game where the Giants can stay committed to the run.

The Risks: What Could Go Wrong?

This isn’t a risk-free start. Know the downside before you lock him in.

Efficiency. He’s averaging 3.6 yards per carry and has struggled to create explosive runs behind this offensive line. Volume has been carrying his weekly floor.

Ball security. Skattebo has four fumbles this season. The Week 5 overtime fumble drew national criticism. Harbaugh hasn’t cut his workload over it, but a fumble early in this game could open the door for Harris or Tracy.

Committee creep. Three other running backs got touches early in Week 3. If the Giants spread the work more aggressively, Skattebo’s ceiling shrinks.

Cam Skattebo Touchdown Odds: The Prop Angle

If you bet player props, Skattebo’s anytime touchdown is the obvious angle this week. The Saints have allowed a league-high 10 rushing scores, and Skattebo is the Giants’ goal-line back. As a rookie last October, he scored three rushing touchdowns against Philadelphia, two of them from the 1-yard line, which shows how the Giants use him near the end zone.

Prediction markets are quickly becoming the best place to bet on sports. Not only can you make your picks from anywhere, but you often can get more favorable odds than on sportsbooks. Right now, you can bet $10 on Cam Skattebo’s touchdown odds in Week 6 to win $20.93 on Kalshi. Sign up through this promo link to claim your Week 6 deposit promo!

Cam Skattebo Fantasy Rest-of-Season Outlook: Buy, Sell, or Hold?

After the Saints, the strength of schedule gets harder fast. The Giants travel to Houston in Week 7, where they’re early underdogs of more than five points. Then they’re on bye in Week 8.

Hold. A big game against New Orleans could give you a selling window, especially with a road game and a bye right behind it. If Skattebo puts up a multi-touchdown day, check his value before Week 7. Managers who are desperate at running back may pay well above what his efficiency numbers support.

Cam Skattebo Week 6 FAQ

Should I start Cam Skattebo in Week 6?

Yes. He’s a confident RB2 with RB1 upside against a Saints defense that has allowed the most rushing touchdowns in the NFL.

Is Cam Skattebo injured?

He dealt with a shoulder issue before Week 5 but played without an injury designation and handled his normal role. Check the final Friday injury report before kickoff.

Who is the Giants’ backup running back?

Najee Harris, Tyrone Tracy Jr., and Devin Singletary are all on the depth chart behind Skattebo. None of them has emerged as a clear handcuff.

When is the Giants’ bye week?

Week 8. The Giants play at Houston in Week 7 before the bye.

Why has Cam Skattebo been bad in fantasy this year?

Efficiency, not opportunity. He’s averaging 3.6 yards per carry and has only one touchdown, but he’s still getting more than 16 carries per game.

Final Verdict: Should I Start or Sit Cam Skattebo in Week 6?

Skattebo’s season has been frustrating, but you don’t bench a running back getting 18 touches a week against the worst run defense in the league. Start him with confidence in Week 6.
