Captain: Jadarian Price (RB, SEA) $10,800
George Holani who? I get the depth chart shows Holani is the RB1, but you don’t spend a first-round pick on a running back to not give them touches. We all remember how the Patriots did defending the run in the Super Bowl; Kenneth Walker III ran rampant with 27 carries for 135 yards. Coaches have been talking up Price, and his teammates have said how much of a difference-maker he will be. George Holani getting first-team reps is a joke.
AJ Brown (WR, NE) $9,600
Yes, it is a tough matchup against the Seahawks defense. Mike Macdonald will not just let AJ Brown take over the game, but don’t erase from your memory that in the Super Bowl, Mack Hollins finished with four receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown. Devon Witherspoon is no joke — one of the best cornerbacks in the league without a doubt — but Brown has been practicing against Christian Gonzalez, the highest-paid CB in the NFL.
The volume will be there. AJ Brown will demand targets and even cry for them, if necessary.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba (WR, SEA) $10,600
Your last memory of Jaxon Smith-Njigba was an underwhelming Super Bowl performance of just four receptions for 27 yards. But if you follow the first two DraftKings NFL DFS picks, it would be foolish to have the money and not play the reigning Offensive Player of the Year. Mike Vrabel will not want to lose to the run game again. Putting more attention into the box will leave JSN with some one-on-one opportunities. With the expectation of him moving around the offensive formation, Seattle will create mismatches and not have Christian Gonzalez following all game.
Rhamondre Stevenson (RB, NE) $8,400
With no TreVeyon Henderson, Rhamondre Stevenson becomes a must-start in DFS lineups. The Super Bowl was not great for Stevenson, with only seven carries for 23 yards, but he made up for that in the receiving game with five receptions for 40 yards and a touchdown. If the Patriots want to win this game, they need to establish the run, and Stevenson needs more than seven carries.
The talk of the offseason has been how good Stevenson has looked and that he will be the clear starter because of his pass-blocking ability. I do not expect Stevenson to come off the field much tonight, as a result.
Jason Myers (K, SEA) $5,400
Showing love to the kickers. If you want the offensive superstars, you will have to take cheap players that could turn around and give you a great performance. Remember when Jason Myers was in serious consideration for Super Bowl MVP? He went 5/5 on field goals (33-, 39-, 41-, 41-, and 26-yard kicks), and 2/2 on extra points, which would have been an 18-point fantasy performance.
If the Patriots defense can continue to stand tall, Jason Myers would be one of the best value NFL DFS picks on DraftKings, with a salary of just $5,400.
Andy Borregales (K, NE) $5,000
The Patriots offense has improved since the Super Bowl, acquiring two true pass catchers (AJ Brown, Romeo Doubs) and Drake Maye is looking to make another step in year three. Andy Borregales has a boot on him. If the Pats can get to the Seahawks’ 30–40-yard line, Borregales is in range to put some points on the board.
