NASCAR’s long-awaited return to Chicagoland Speedway is officially set after Saturday’s qualifying session at the 1.5-mile oval in Joliet, Illinois. The Cup Series has not raced at this track since 2019, making Sunday’s eero 400 one of the most anticipated events of the 2026 season. With track position at a premium on the intermediate oval — where the groove is narrow and passing is notoriously difficult — where a driver starts on Sunday could go a long way toward determining where they finish.
The following shares the official starting grid for Sunday’s race, along with Chicagoland Speedway track details and key observations from NASCAR Cup Series practice and qualifying.

Official eero 400 Starting Lineup
Denny Hamlin added another chapter to what is becoming a historic 2026 season. The No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota driver claimed the Busch Light Pole Award at Chicagoland Speedway with a lap of 30.296 seconds at 178.241 mph — edging out Kyle Larson by a razor-thin 0.001 seconds to claim the top starting spot. It is Hamlin’s fourth pole of the season and the 52nd of his career, breaking a tie with Ryan Newman for ninth on the all-time list. Hamlin is also the only driver to have won poles at both Chicagoland Speedway and the Chicago Street Course.
RFK Racing had a strong afternoon, placing both of their Fords — Chris Buescher and Brad Keselowski — in third and fourth. Ty Gibbs rounded out the top five, giving Joe Gibbs Racing a commanding presence at the front of the grid. Toyota as a manufacturer earned five of the top seven qualifying spots, continuing their dominance from practice a day earlier.
One notable storyline heading into Sunday: Tyler Reddick, who led all drivers in best 10-lap average speed during Friday’s practice session, will start 13th after a disappointing qualifying lap. Meanwhile, Shane van Gisbergen (P30) and Joey Logano (P31) will have plenty of ground to make up from deep in the field.
