Although the common soccer fan may view this group as an easy start for the USA, the more passionate fans know just how crazy this group could be. Paraguay is a pesky team as always, while Türkiye and Australia continue to improve on the international stage. This grouping could easily give fans a flashback to Group E back in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. That group was well remembered, as each one of the teams in the group had at least a few minutes during the final match day where they would’ve qualified for the knockout stages had the results held.
It’s hard to imagine this grouping will live up to that craziness from the last edition of the World Cup, but it would not be surprising if any of the teams made it to the knockout stages.

World Cup Group D Predictions
On paper, the USA and Türkiye have the best players and should each finish in the top two of World Cup Group D with ease. Unfortunately for the United States, not only have they had to deal with Johnny Cardoso and Patrick Agyemang already ruled out for the World Cup, but they are also having to deal with current injuries to Christian Pulisic, Tim Weah and Tanner Tessman that could linger up until the start of the tournament.
Paraguay and Australia are not the best teams, that’s for sure, but both play better than the sum of their parts historically. Miguel Almirón is not far removed from being one of the most underrated forwards in the Premier League and in a group stage that lasts just three games, he could do some real damage.
There will certainly be a fight for each position as the third-place finisher in this group will likely finish with enough points to qualify for the next round. With their experience and young talent, I’d expect Türkiye to surprise some people and finish atop the group with how things are going for the USA recently. The USA should have enough to get over the line as the second team, but I’d be willing to bet Paraguay takes some points off of either them or Türkiye to finish third and qualify for the knockout stages.
