Chris Brazzell II Scouting Report
Strengths
Brazzell brings an imposing size profile to the wide receiver position, paired with a long stride that makes him a natural vertical threat. His catch radius and ability to extend for the football allow him to win downfield, and he shows solid body control for a receiver with a high center of gravity.
He also showed noticeable improvement as a route runner in his final collegiate season. While primarily known as a field stretcher, he became more effective on intermediate routes, displaying better timing and control in his breaks. That development gives him a more well-rounded foundation than many receivers with similar deep-threat profiles.
Weaknesses
Despite his improvement, Brazzell remains inconsistent on intermediate routes, particularly over the middle of the field. He does not consistently create separation, in part due to a limited use of route fakes and subtle movements to manipulate defenders. This allows defensive backs to stay in phase more easily on shorter routes.
He also lacks consistent physicality on underneath targets and has limited experience facing press coverage. Defenses often played off to respect his deep speed, which may have contributed to his improved production on shorter routes. At the next level, he will need to adjust to more frequent press-man situations and continue refining his route detail to become a more complete receiver.
