A look at the Akheem Mesidor NFL Draft profile, including a scouting report, his college stats, highlights and a 2026 mock draft projection.
One of the most intriguing first-round prospects this year is Akheem Mesidor. On one hand, he played great football at Miami and was mentored by Hall of Famer Jason Taylor. On the other hand, the edge rusher will be a 25-year-old rookie, which is a big knock for many NFL scouts. So, where will he end up?

When is the 2026 NFL Draft?
The 2026 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 23, beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The draft will take place in Pittsburgh, PA. It is a football city that will provide a great backdrop for the draft festivities, but everyone is crossing their fingers that the weather cooperates. Only Round 1 will take place on Thursday. Rounds 2-3 will take place on April 24th, with the remaining four rounds wrapping up on Sunday, April 25th. There will be 257 players selected across the seven rounds, with many more getting phone calls immediately afterward.
Akheem Mesidor Scouting Report
Strengths
Akheem Mesidor is relentless. No matter what it takes to get the job done, that is what Mesidor seems to do. In college, he whipped out both finesse and power moves, and he found success with all of them. His pursuit to the quarterback or ball carrier is elite, and he picks up speed around the edge.
As mentioned above, Mesidor was coached by Jason Taylor, and he appeared to be very coachable. He is a smart defensive mind who clearly studies tape. He rarely gets outwitted. But once again, Mesidor doesn’t know the meaning of the word “quit.” His hustle and the way he approaches the game make him one of my favorite prospects.
Weaknesses
They say age is just a number, but NFL Draft scouts certainly do not think so. There is no doubt that the top weakness for Akheem Mesidor heading into the NFL Draft is that he will be a 25-year-old rookie, and some teams will label him undraftable as a result.
Aside from his age, Mesidor lacks the length to win on the edge consistently. To overcome his lack of length, he must have great athleticism. He does, but his age will make teams wonder how long the athleticism will last. Aside from the lack of size, he also does not possess much power.
