Avieon Terrell Scouting Report
Strengths
When watching film on Avieon Terrell, two things jump off the tape. The first is that he is incredibly effective in run support and does a great job in finding a way to always be in the right place at the right time. He fills the right gaps and does a good job coming downhill, but makes sure he doesn’t close so hard that he runs himself out of the play or into bad positions. When there is a tackle to be made, he is probably the best out of all the corners in the draft at making the play, even in the open field.
The other big strength of Terrell is his ability to be an absolute pest in man coverage, specifically when he’s been used in press coverage. He does a great job mirroring the receiver and has a real knack for breaking on the ball at the exact right time. He makes almost every catch contested in those situations and does a great job at ripping at the ball, even if he can’t get a hand in to knock it down. Terrell also does a good job locating the ball downfield and is incredibly athletic. While it was in 2024, Terrell played a fantastic game against #1 Georgia in the first game of the season as a sophomore.
Weaknesses
The biggest knock on Terrell is his size. Coming in at 5’11” and under 190 pounds, he does not have the frame most franchises would like for an outside corner. While that frame was good enough to be a star at the collegiate level, that could become a problem in the NFL. At times at Clemson, he lost multiple battles against bigger receivers in 50/50 situations. While he is very good in man coverage, he is less effective when playing zone. If there is one knock on his game when in man coverage, it’s that he is not great at reading a route before it happens and is often more reactive to what the receiver is doing.
