Ty Simpson Scouting Report
Strengths
Ty Simpson rose to the occasion this past season, with some of his best games coming against good opponents. He both trusted his protection and had the responsibility to adjust his protection at the line of scrimmage.
Simpson has terrific fundamentals. His footwork is perfect, and his throwing mechanics are consistent. Simpson appears to recognize defensive coverages quickly, and he does a good job at working his way through progressions and hitting the easy throws.
Weaknesses
Despite several years in college, Simpson does not have much starting experience. As a result, there could be some growing pains. While his throwing mechanics are consistent, his arm talent is average. His accuracy downfield is not there, and it may not be a consistent part of his game.
One weakness of Simpson that will be very apparent early in his career is holding the ball too long. He may take too many sacks while waiting for the perfect throw, putting his health at risk and the team behind the chains.
