Eli Stowers Scouting Report
Strengths
Eli Stowers is an athletic tight end who brings versatility to the position thanks to his background as a former quarterback. Stowers was able to showcase this athleticism at the NFL Combine. His experience at multiple positions has helped him develop a strong understanding of offensive concepts, and he shows good instincts when finding space in coverage. Stowers is capable of stretching the field as a receiving option and creating mismatches against linebackers in the passing game.
Stowers’ athleticism and movement skills allow him to contribute as a pass catcher both down the seam and in open space. His combination of size and fluidity gives him intriguing upside as a receiving tight end with the potential to develop into a matchup problem at the next level.
Weaknesses
While Stowers offers intriguing athletic traits, he remains somewhat raw at the tight end position after transitioning from quarterback just three years ago. As a result, he will need continued development in areas such as blocking technique and overall refinement at the position.
Improving his consistency as an in-line blocker and continuing to develop the finer points of route running will be important. He must continue building his physical frame as well to better meet the size demands of the position at the NFL level.
