76ers vs Heat Prediction

The lack of capable scorers without Joel Embiid in the lineup was on display in a big way for the 76ers Monday night. Aside from a second-quarter surge that was fueled by Tobias Harris and James Harden, Philadelphia had a great deal of trouble breaking down what has been a suffocating Miami defense all season long. Harden in particular needs to revert to being the lethal scoring threat that he has been in previous seasons if the Sixers figure to have any shot in this series.

While he contributed nine assists in Game 1, Harden only scored 16 points. After averaging 22.5 points per game during the regular season, he has failed to hit that mark in any game yet this postseason. Only three times in the playoffs thus far has Harden even managed to surpass 20 points. Until he shows something more, it’s difficult not to side with the home favorites when making a 76ers vs Heat prediction for Game 2.

Speaking of the Heat, Miami was able to win the series-opener by double digits despite only getting 15 points from Jimmy Butler. Tyler Herro led the team with 25 points and was officially announced as the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award winner last night. Bam Adebayo predictably dominated the interior in Game 1 as well with 24 points and 12 boards.

Given that DeAndre Jordan is really the only true center option that the 76ers have in Embiid’s absence, Adebayo could be in line to put up huge numbers throughout this Eastern Conference Semifinal Series. Even with Embiid, Philly simply does not have the depth to match up with the 1-seed.

76ers vs Heat Prediction: Heat 108, 76ers 97
