The Carolina Panthers started the year 3-0, looking great in those games. They ended the year winning two of their last 14 games. Many problems happened in the year, like injuries and some bad QB play. The Panthers have to fix some of the problems and this is a little road map of how to do so.
3 Things the Carolina Panthers Must Address in the 2022 NFL Offseason
1. Do Not Bring Back Cam Newton
Cam Newton was brought back to Carolina halfway through the season. PJ Walker wasn’t cutting it, so why not take a chance on Newton they said. Well, Newton didn’t do any better as he threw five picks and four touchdowns. Newton also had five touchdowns on the ground. Cam is past his prime and this year only cost the Panthers instead of helping them. The gamble did not work out so it is time to move on from your old QB.
2. Get Darnold Some WR/TE Help
Sam Darnold looked good for three weeks, then fell off the table until he got hurt. DJ Moore was his number one and he is a WR1, Robby Anderson maybe isn’t the same as what he used to be and at TE the average fan isn’t naming any of them. The Panthers have $17 million in cap space and the sixth pick in the draft. Darnold needs that help to save his career.
3. Wrap Christian McCaffrey in Bubble Wrap
Run CMC has not had the best of the last two seasons, as both have been lost to injuries. The Panthers must do what they can to prevent this. Christian McCaffrey is one of the best RBs in the league when he is healthy. He is the key to helping the Panthers get back to the playoffs.
