With the Super Bowl being the biggest event in North American Sports, eyes across the world flock to the TV to see the two best teams in the NFL duke it out. The majority of viewers are football fans, of course, but some people like to tune in for the commercials and the storylines. More than that, many tune in for the halftime performers. Following Usher’s concert this year, many are wondering who will be the 2025 Super Bowl halftime performer.

The Super Bowl halftime show has been historically dominated by rock and roll bands and for good reason. That has since shifted to more of a pop/hip-hop base, as it has become obvious that the NFL is targeting a younger audience while promoting musicians who have upcoming albums. In fact, since 2011, the halftime shows have included Madonna, Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Maroon 5, Travis Scott, Big Boi, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, The Weeknd, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Rihanna, Usher, Jermaine Dupri, Alicia Keys and Ludacris.

If the Super Bowl continues to stick with this theme, we can possibly see one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time perform, or a very iconic rock band play songs from their final album. With that in mind, these are three possible 2025 Super Bowl halftime performers for the big game next year in New Orleans.

Lil Wayne | Possible 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Performers

With Super Bowl 59 taking place in New Orleans, there is no better artist in the world to represent the city than Weezy. Lil Wayne famously grew his image out of New Orleans, before signing with Birdman and Cash Money Records. Wayne is undoubtedly one of the biggest figures in not only hip-hop, but also music. If you are like me and grew up in the 2000s, you know every word to “Tha Block is Hot”, “A Milli” and “3 Peat.” Imagine if we see the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl going for their third straight championship and Wayne opens halftime with “3 Peat.”

Anyways, Lil Wayne has been very vocal about his desire to perform at halftime of the Super Bowl and if there were any time to appease him, it would be in the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show. While it would be great to see a reunion of Hot Boys at midfield, it sounds like Wayne will most likely keep the features small if any. If he were to headline the halftime show and you made me predict the setlist, I would guess the only artist he brings along for a feature would be Drake for “Right Above It.”

Wayne is a big sports fan, as proved by his friendship with Skip Bayless and his many appearances on sports talk TV, so it seems like a good relationship for the NFL and him. He is a huge Green Bay Packers fan, but on top of that, I think that he is just looking to cap his illustrious career by performing on one of the biggest stages of the world.

Coldplay | Possible 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Performers

Coming out of London, many have become enamored by Chris Martin and company since the late 90’s. After “Shiver” was released in 2000, Coldplay became a household name across the world. Now in their 27th year of existence, it sounds like the band is beginning to call it quits, as they recently announced that their next album will be their last. That album is set to release in 2025, so what better way than to send off the music legends with an ultimate unveiling of their final album at the Super Bowl?

I know what you are saying, “Luke, Coldplay has already played at the Super Bowl, don’t you think the NFL is looking for someone new?” I would not disagree with you on that take, but the NFL has shown that they are not scared of booking someone more than once for the Super Bowl. Usher, Beyonce and Bruno Mars have all performed more than once, so I certainly think that it is in the realm of possibility for Coldplay to make another appearance.

DJ Khaled | Possible 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Performers

Now, this is not my first choice (or should it be anybody’s first choice), but if there was one person who would want the world staring at them it is DJ Khaled. Khaled is not a performer, nor a producer, but he is one of the biggest celebrities in the music circle from New Orleans. What Khaled exactly does, other than yelling DJ KHALED on records, is yet to be discovered, but the man does know how to pay artists to make songs together.

He has already performed at the 2020 Super Bowl pre-show, so to say that he can headline a Super Bowl is not really out of the question. Obviously, he will not be the main attraction, but who he can bring to the big game should provide excitement from many fans. With Khaled at the helm, we could see anyone from Rihanna to Lil Baby to Drake to A$AP Rocky to Justin Bieber make an appearance. In the middle of 2023, publicists in DJ Khaled’s camp announced that he was coming out with a new album. That album has yet to drop and is expected to sometime in 2024. If anyone knows anything about promotion in hip-hop, it is Khaled, so the 2025 Super Bowl halftime seems like a great time to get as many ears as possible on a couple of singles.
