The day is finally here. It is put up or shut up time for some of these teams, as 14 spots in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs are locked up coming into the wildcard race of Daytona. Two spots were left open after Kurt Busch decided to decline his medical waiver, and that opened up the spot he held. With that spot now open, Martin Truex Jr. is now on the inside of the playoffs. There are 13 drivers looking to knock Truex or Ryan Blaney out of the playoff picture during the NASCAR Coke Zero Sugar 400.

On the opposite side of the points, there is Chase Elliott who clinched the regular season championship last week at Watkins Glen. Daytona International Speedway has the power to provide for that surprise and knock one of them out (one of them is guaranteed to make it). 400 miles, 160 laps to determine who will make it and who falls short of their championship opportunity.

Joining the Cup Series in Daytona is the NASCAR Xfinity Series. They still have a handful of races left in their regular season. A.J. Allmendinger has a 61-point lead in the Xfinity Series standings over Ty Gibbs. The Xfinity Series will be racing Friday night after both qualifying sessions.
