2020 Masters Picks | Round 1 and Full Tournament Best Bets

2020 has been a strange year. Who would have ever thought we would see a Masters Tournament being played in November?

Regardless, I am thrilled it is finally here. Golf fans and gamblers alike have been waiting on this for many months, and it should be a very exciting weekend!

It’s a star studded field, like we typically see at Augusta, with opportunities to make money everywhere.

Let’s take a look at my Best Bets of this 2020 Masters weekend!

Finishing Position | Masters Picks

Dustin Johnson

Johnson has been playing some of the best golf of his career in 2020, which is evident by his current #1 rank in the world.

In his last six tournament appearances he has finished no worse than 6^th place.

During those six tournaments, he accumulated two 1^st place finishes (including the TOUR Championship) and three 2^nd place finishes. He also won the Travelers Championship back in June.

DJ will undoubtedly be in contention this coming Sunday, and has a very good chance at winning his first Masters after tying for 2^nd last year.

Masters Picks: Top 5 (+200) / Top 10 (even) / Partial Unit to Win (+850)

Justin Thomas

Thomas is an absolute stud, and one of my favorite golfers to watch.

The scariest part about Thomas might be the fact that he is only 27 years old and continues to grow as a golfer while finding more success with each passing season. Many believe the best is yet to come for JT, and I agree with them.

JT has played more golf in 2020 than most other names you will see in this article. In 22 tournaments he has 13 top 10 finishes, and has made the cut 19 times.

Thomas may not win this weekend, but he is always near the top of the leaderboard, and is coming in with a hot hand after placing 2^nd in his most recent tournament appearance

He is also a very strong starter, so you can expect a first round in the mid 60’s this weekend. Keep that in mind for any prop bets or first round match ups you may be interested in betting involving JT.

Masters Picks: Top 10 (+150) / Top 20 After Round 1 (+110)

Jon Rahm

Rahm will either make us, or break us this weekend, as we are going all in on the Spaniard.

He has been my pick to take home a green jacket each of the last two years, and I am running it back again.

He came into the season ranked as the top golfer in the world, and though he struggled early on he has been deadly since winning the Memorial Tournament in July.

Since then he has posted four more top 10 performances, including another victory and a 2^nd place finish in his most recent tournament appearance.

Like they say, the third time is the charm. Jon Rahm is my pick to win the 2020 Masters Tournament.

Masters Picks: To Win (+1050) / Top 5 (+240) / Top 10 (+120) / Top 20 After Round 1 (even)

Brooks Koepka

Koepka has not had the greatest season, but he always shows up big in Majors.

He has seven career wins and four of those came in Major tournaments.

These are simply value picks here, based on what we’ve seen from Brooks throughout his career.

*Side Note* He has not been good in the opening rounds this season. In his 10 post Covid restart appearances he has shot above 70 six times and above 72 five of those six times.

Maybe consider fading Koepka in day one match ups, and looking to him in the following days.

Picks: Partial Unit to Win (+1700) / Top 10 (+200) / Top 20 (-125)

Bryson DeChambeau

Bryson is the odds on favorite to win the Masters despite some poor finishes coming in.

I like other golfers more here, and Bryson does not offer much value. However, he is too good to completely ignore, so he is worth of a small bet.

Pick: Top 10 (even)

Patrick Cantlay

Cantlay has been playing very solid and very consistent golf this season.

Over a span of 14 PGA events, he has finished in an average of 24^th place. He also won the most recent tournament he played in just a couple of weeks ago.

Pick: Top 20 (-120)

Webb Simpson

Simpson, much like Cantlay, has played very solid golf all season long.

In his last 11 tournaments, he has finished in the top 20 nine times, and in the top 10 five of those nine times.

He will not disappoint this weekend.

Pick: Top 20 (even)

2020 Masters Round 1 Props

Phil Mickelson

Mickelson has had a very average season, but has played a ton of golf in 2020.

He always plays well in the Masters. This is proven by the fact that he has only 5 Major Championship wins, and three green jackets in the closet.

I like Phil to come out hot, and then likely take a back seat as some of the other players find their stride.

Pick: Top 20 After Round 1 (+275)

Rickie Fowler

Fowler is a fan favorite and a very talented golfer.

His biggest problem has always been not being able to finish on Sundays. He has had the lead going into the weekend many times, and is often in contention, but has never been able to find a way to finish.

He has finished 2^nd in the Masters, US Open, and The Open Championship. He also owns a 3^rd place finish in the PGA Championship.

He is a strong starter, so look for him to have success prior to the cut.

Pick: Top 20 After Round 1 (+225)

Rory McIlroy

Rory has made the cut in every tournament he has played in this season, but he often starts out slow.

He has shot a 73 in round one of each of his last two tournaments.

Pick: Total Birdies or Better 0-3 (+250)

Make/Miss Cut | Masters Picks

Tiger Woods

Tiger has seen a very sporadic 2020 season, often taking long breaks between appearances. He has not had a single top 10 finish since the Covid restart, and in fact, has not even been close.

His best finish in his last four tournaments was 51^st, and his most recent finish was 72^nd in the ZOZO Championship.

I hate to say it, but there is just no value in Woods this year, and he does not stand much of a chance given the way he has played, and the elite competition he will be facing.

Pick: To Miss Cut (+200)

Collin Morikawa

This may be the most popular name in the PGA right now.

He turned into a betting darling after winning the PGA Championship out of nowhere back in August, but simply has not played very good golf since.

Everyone is going to be on Morikawa this weekend, so I like the contrarian play here.

I think the 23 year old falls short and misses the cut in his first Masters appearance

Pick: To Miss Cut (+275)

Cameron Champ

I wish I had more analytics for you with this pick, but sometimes you just have to go with your gut.

Champ has missed the cut in multiple big tournaments already this season, including the US Open, Memorial Tournament, and Arnold Palmer Invitational.

I have a strong feeling he falls short again this weekend at Augusta.

Pick: To Miss Cut (+163)

Full Masters Tournament Props

Given the amount of talent at the top of the world of golf, and the fact so many players have been playing incredibly well this season, I do not think anyone will run away with the tournament.

I see this as being very competitive and down to the wire, with a lot of position changes on Sunday.

Because of that, I like both of these bets for a partial unit each. Obviously they cannot both hit, but with such high returns you will still be in the green if one of them does.

Picks: Winner to Birdie 72^nd Hole (+350) / Tournament Decided By Playoff – Yes (+300)

My final best bet of the weekend I absolutely love.

If you haven’t seen it yet, prepare to be amazed. During a practice round this week, Jon Rahm skipped the ball multiple times across the water and ran it up on the complete opposite side of the green from where the hole was.

Somehow, despite its whacky path, it finds its way into the hole for a hole in one.

It also happened to be Rahm’s birthday that day, which, to me, means he had to have used up all the hole in one magic that was out on the course for the week. I think it is unlikely we see another one happen during the course of play.
