Atlanta Hawks vs Philadelphia 76ers Betting Preview and Prediction | NBA Playoffs
NBA Eastern Conference Round 2 NBA Playoffs Game 1
Atlanta Hawks (41-31, 16-20 Away) vs. Philadelphia 76ers (49-23, 29-7 Home)
Date: Sunday, June 6, 2021
Time: 1 pm EST
Venue: Wells Fargo Center – Philadelphia, PA
Coverage: ABC
Despite winning in five games, the series against the Knicks was a hard-fought one for the Hawks. The Knicks were a hard-nosed defensive team, so it didn’t take many points to beat them. In fact, Atlanta averaged just 104 points in the series. In the second round, they face a very different opponent in the Philadelphia 76ers.
The 76ers were the top team in the Eastern Conference for a reason, and the biggest reason was Joel Embiid. However, the big man is truly questionable today, after he was reported to have a torn meniscus. While we should see him in this series, it’s tough to imagine him on the court today, after he “did what he could do” in Saturday’s practice. Without him, the 76ers opted to go small last series, bringing Matisse Thybulle into the starting lineup. However, with Clint Capela controlling the paint for Atlanta, Philadelphia may ask Dwight Howard to do more this series. Even without Embiid, the 76ers scored 129 points to close out the series with the Wizards, proving they still have plenty of offense remaining.

Hawks vs 76ers Prediction
This NBA prediction uses NumberFire’s probability model. They give Philadelphia a 79.7% chance to win Game 1 of this NBA Playoffs matchup.
In the first round, the Hawks went as Trae Young did. Ben Simmons should be able to give him a bit of trouble, which means it comes down to the supporting cast of Atlanta, who I have zero faith in. No Embiid, no problem in Game 1. I expect the strong play at home to continue for Philadelphia.
