A grand, star-studded opening ceremony is set to take place today, Sunday, November 20, two hours before the first game.
About time, the ceremony is scheduled to start at 17:00 local, 7:30 PM IST, 14:00 GMT, 09:00 ET, and 01:00 AEDT (November 21), 2:00 am NZDT (November 21), 10 PM (MYT), 10 PM (SGT), 10 PM (HKT), 11 PM (JST).
According to Qatar’s media conference, Khalid Al Mawlawi announced that the stadium’s gates would open at 3 pm, 2 hours before the start of the ceremony.

But It would’ve caused an awkward situation to arrange the opening ceremony on the 2nd day after two matches being held on the first day. Shakira performed the evergreen “Waka Waka (this time from Africa)” song for the 2010 World Cup.
