The Madison square garden is ready to welcome its son, Teofimo Lopez who will be putting his WBO International super lightweight title against Spain’s, Sandor Martin on Saturday, December 10. It has been a bumpy ride for the 25-year-old Lopez so far who snatched the lightweight title in a famous victory over Vasiliy Lomachenko in 2020. But moving forward, he lost to a rather unknown fighter at that time, George Kambosos Jr. After losing the lightweight titles, Lopez decided to go up the weight and made his Super lightweight debut this past August.

Lopez has had fond memories of the Madison Square Garden as he buckled Richard Commey at the same venue to win the IBF lightweight title in 2019. He will initiate another ‘Take over’ but now in a new division against the experienced Spaniard Martin. The 29-year-old Martin is no stranger to such a hostile environment as he previously thrashed Mikey Garcia on his trip to America. The Spaniard is in the form of life having been unbeaten in his last nine fights. He is on a mission to spoil the party for the home town boy, Lopez. His recent win came to Jose Felix in Spain where he was declared victorious after the end of 10 scheduled rounds. Martin has some weapons in his artillery and cometh this Saturday, he will be hoping to connect one of these to down Lopez.
