This year might be the worst year for running backs in recent history. It’s been an awful year to bust out the “Zero RB” strategy, as there are so few decent options, and the divide between the elite and good is bigger than ever. The waiver cupboard is as barren as ever, but there are a few scraps left for those who know what to look for. And while we have covered the top fantasy football waiver wire pickups, that does not mean those players are the best streaming candidates for Week 5.
Here are three Week 5 fantasy football RB streamers that you can plug into your lineup!

Fantasy Football Week 5 RB Streamers
Emanuel Wilson, Seattle Seahawks (50.1% owned)
This is just the most obvious pick that you’ll see this season. The Seattle Seahawks have one starting running back, and it’s Emanuel Wilson. Few people know him from his previous stint in Green Bay, but Packers fans can tell you he’s a stud, and he’s looked the part in Seattle.
It hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows, as it hasn’t always been his backfield, but in the two weeks he’s been the clear-cut RB1, he’s totaled 173 yards on 42 carries and tacked on two touchdowns. This week, they’ll play the San Francisco 49ers in a game where they’ll find themselves in a slugfest. With Wilson’s ability as both a runner, he’s an absolute must-start and a top-priority fantasy football RB streamer.
Keaton Mitchell, Los Angeles Chargers (18.1%)
If you ask the average fantasy player who is the lead back in Los Angeles for the Chargers, they’d tell you it’s Omarion Hampton. Unfortunately, the consensus doesn’t mean it’s fact. Over the last two weeks, Hampton has 55 touches to Mitchell’s 51. As much as I like Hampton as a player, it’s clear this backfield is more 1A and 1B than Hampton’s.
While the reasoning behind it might not make a ton of sense from a talent perspective for most people, from a fantasy perspective it at least makes sense. In both of the past two weeks, Mitchell has averaged 0.53 fantasy points per snap, above Kyren Williams and even Jonathan Taylor.
Next week, the Los Angeles Chargers play the Denver Broncos, which would usually be cause for concern. Seeing the production he’s put up the last two weeks against the Buffalo Bills and the Seattle Seahawks, this shouldn’t be a concern. The backfield is starting to shift towards Mitchell, and until that changes, he’ll be a good waiver choice each week.
MarShawn Lloyd, Green Bay Packers (48.9%)
The running backs available on the fantasy football waiver wire are complete garbage, if we’re being honest with ourselves. The Green Bay Packers’ running defense is about as dangerous as a golden retriever puppy, and they play a Chicago Bears team that should be able to do whatever they want with them.
Fortunately, those are all the reasons why most people will leave him for you to pick up and profit with. With the running back situation so thin, you need guys who at least have a chance at scoring. MarShawn Lloyd has 12 red zone opportunities in four games, which is more than Cam Skattebo, Chase Brown and Bucky Irving. While his 18.2% goal line share leaves plenty to be desired, that is still higher than Jeremiyah Love, TreVeyon Henderson, and again, Bucky Irving.
Lloyd sees more red zone and goal line opportunities than most other people on the waiver wire. Against a Bears defense that is just okay at best, he should have plenty of chances at the end zone, making him relevant for fantasy football RB streamers.
