Taking a look at the best Week 3 NFL Survivor Pool Picks, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
If you are unaware of what NFL Survivor picks are, the basic concept is you make NFL picks throughout the season, but you can only pick a team once. Once you lose, you’re knocked out, so choose your Week 3 NFL Survivor Pool picks wisely.
If you are new to reading my survivor articles, what I do is outline my “lock of the week,” my “value of the week,” and my “high-risk, high-reward pick of the week.”
The “lock” details what team I think has the best chance of winning their matchup. This will most likely be a good team that plays a bad team. The lock is also the official pick for NFL Survivor Pools, meaning we will not reuse a “lock.” My value pick details a mid-tier team that has a good matchup. And finally, my high-risk, high-reward pick details a bad team that has a good matchup. It may be worth it to look at the NFL betting odds for these games and place some bets as well.
Teams Used for Lock of the Week:
- Cincinnati Bengals
- San Francisco 49ers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs New York Jets
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have started the season 2-0, but they have had to really fight for those two victories, with each win coming by way of less than four points. On the other hand, the New York Jets have started the season 0-2 with two very different losses. In Week 1, they engaged in one of the better games of the season so far against the Steelers, while in Week 2, they laid an egg against the Bills. When choosing between this game, it felt like the Jets were going to play more like that second game than the first. That starts with Justin Fields already being ruled out this week. That means that Tyrod Taylor will get the start, and based upon what we saw last week, that is not a good thing for the Jets.
Tampa should be able to win this game due to its strong front seven. They were able to hold Houston’s rushing attack for the most part last week, and we know that for in order this Jets offense to hum, the run game is going to have to be at the forefront. On the offensive side of the ball, the Buccaneers can attack you from a bunch of different angles, with players like Bucky Irving, Rachaad White, Mike Evans and Emeka Egbuka. This feels like a don’t overthink it game and take the better team for our Week 3 NFL Survivor Pool pick.

Atlanta Falcons vs Carolina Panthers
In an NFC South divisional matchup, we see the Atlanta Falcons open the game as 5.5-point favorites over the Carolina Panthers this week. Coming off a Sunday night game, where the Falcons were able to shut down the Minnesota Vikings’ offense, it feels like Atlanta can follow a similar game plan against the Panthers. The Carolina Panthers offense as a whole is much weaker than what we saw with the Vikings, so if Atlanta runs a similar defensive scheme, it should be successful yet again. I mean, the Falcons were able to hold Justin Jefferson to just 81 yards on three receptions. While Tet McMillan is a solid young player, he is no Jefferson.
On the offensive side of the ball for the Falcons, it really feels like Raheem Morris and his staff are simplifying an offense for Michael Penix to get his feet wet in the NFL. Given the luxury of Bijan Robinson and a solid offensive line, Atlanta has the ability to not put all of the weight on Penix’s shoulders. That game plan should continue, as there is nothing on this Panthers defense that overall frightens you, outside of Jaycee Horn.

Seattle Seahawks vs New Orleans Saints
As fun as it would be to pick the 0-2 Kansas City Chiefs as the high-risk, high-reward pick of the week, I am going with the Seattle Seahawks to win the week against the New Orleans Saints. I am not sure that the Seattle Seahawks fit the idea of choosing a bad team in this spot, because I do not think that they are a bad team. Why I am picking them here is because I think that there is some uncertainty when it comes to them. They should be able to curb some of that uncertainty this week when playing the New Orleans Saints.
The Saints have yet to really put together a full quarter of football. There is nothing that really scares you on the defensive side of the football, as Sam Darnold, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and the running back duo will be able to move the ball in this game. With the Saints offense, the Seahawks have a solid pass defense, meaning that stopping Alvin Kamara is going to be key to stifling this Saints offense. Even if Kamara is able to break into some plays, the odds are that the Saints are going to be down and are going to need to pass in this game. With Spencer Rattler throwing the ball, it seems unlikely that anything big comes out of the pass game this week.
