Week 1 TE Fantasy Football Streamers
Cade Otton at Atlanta Falcons (20.1% Owned)
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers open their season against the Atlanta Falcons, who struggled in defending the tight end position last season. The Falcons gave up a total of 134.6 fantasy points to the position last year, which ranked 22nd in the NFL. That works in favor of the Buccaneers, as a strong run game will need that complementary underneath target, especially for Baker Mayfield to set up his dynamic play action. What works in favor of Cade Otton, too, is that both Chris Godwin and Jalen McMillan are expected to miss time, meaning there are that many more targets for Otton available.
Zach Ertz vs. New York Giants (40.5% Owned)
Last season, Zach Ertz enjoyed somewhat of a career revival as Jayden Daniels’s safety blanket target. This season, it looks like he still has enough in the tank to reprise that role. That starts with a divisional matchup against the New York Giants this week. While the Giants do not sport the sexiest offense in the NFL, one thing that makes their team run is their front seven. In fact, the Giants may have the best pass-rushing unit in the whole NFL. Given Daniels’ inexperience as a whole in the NFL, having Ertz as a reliable middle-of-the-field target will be key to slowing down the Giants’ front seven.
Ja’Tavion Sanders at Jacksonville Jaguars (1.1% Owned)
The last tight end of this article goes out to Ja’Tavion Sanders, who is virtually going undrafted and is probably available in your league right now. Sanders and the Panthers enter the week against a Jacksonville Jaguars team that struggled big time against the pass last season. As it looked like Bryce Young was on the cusp of making a step forward last season, having a big target like Sanders should help to kick that off right away.
Last season, the Jaguars gave up 143 total points to the tight end position, which ranked seventh-worst in the entire NFL.
