Walker Kessler Draft Profile
Walker Kessler has an incredible size to play in the NBA. At 7-1, Kessler will already be one of the tallest players in the league, when he gets drafted. His height and wingspan give him a great shot-blocking ability, proved by his almost-five blocks per game last season. He has great footwork and moves well for a big man on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. Kessler will probably be used as a rim protector and rebounder in the NBA, which fits hits game. When scoring, Kessler does most of his damage in the paint. He has also shown incredible rebounding skills, after being coached by both Roy Williams and Bruce Pearl for two years in college.
As is the case with most big men, Walker Kessler needs to work on his balance when it comes to defending outside of the paint. His offense is a concern, as he does not provide much outside of 60% shooting in the paint. Shooting short of 60% from the free throw line, Kessler may find it hard to play games down the stretch. Kessler sometimes tries to play hero-ball, leading to a turnover or contested shot.
