Value in Broncos Playoffs Odds Depends Drew Lock’s Play

The Denver Broncos are coming off a 2019 season that saw them play three different quarterbacks The end result was a 7-9 record, but Denver played significantly better down the stretch, winning four of their last five games. Denver could be in position to take the next step, but the Broncos playoffs odds depends on the quality of play from the quarterback position.

Drew Lock was the quarterback in each of those five games and will be the starter for the Broncos this season. The progress, or lack thereof, that he makes in his sophomore NFL season is the key to the Broncos making the postseason. Broncos Playoffs Odds

The combination of three straight losing seasons and playing in an AFC West division that is also home to the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs, the oh-so-close Los Angeles Chargers and the rising Las Vegas Raiders have the Broncos flying somewhat under-the-radar in terms of their 2020 expectations. Their odds just to make the NFL Playoffs currently sit at +145, according to Bovada Sportsbook.

Regarding the odds to win the division itself, the presence of the Chiefs is enough to make all three other AFC West teams relative long shots, including the Broncos. Denver’s division title odds currently sit at +800, well behind the Chiefs, at -450. The market has given the Broncos the benefit of the doubt over both the Chargers and Raiders, who both have longer odds in the division. Interestingly, this trend does not translate to AFC Championship and Super Bowl LV odds. Denver has the longest odds of any AFC West team to accomplish either feat, at +2800 and +6600, respectively.

A Super Bowl title is very much a stretch with a second-year quarterback at the helm. But given the Broncos’ offseason moves and the NFL’s institution of a seventh playoff team in each conference, a futures bet on Denver to make the postseason might be worthy of some consideration.

Broncos Team Outlook

Denver quietly had one of the more productive free agency periods among NFL teams. The big splash signing came when they inked running back Melvin Gordon to a bargain deal. He will join Phillip Lindsay in running behind an offensive line that ranked 11th in adjusted run blocking analytics, according to Football Outsiders. Establishing a consistent ground game again in 2020 will help take pressure off of Lock and the passing game.

Regarding said air attack, Courtland Sutton is primed to be a surefire WR1 moving forward, and Denver is expected to add receiver depth in the upcoming NFL Draft.

The Broncos defense regressed slightly last season compared to the vaunted unit many had grown accustomed to in preceding years. Denver addressed things in the offseason by trading for corner A.J. Bouye and defensive lineman Jurrell Casey. Linebackers Von Miller and Bradley Chubb will once again lead the way, as the Broncos appear primed to climb back into the top-10 in efficiency rating.

If the defense returns as a top unit, the Broncos are moving the chains on the ground and Lock is taking care of the ball, this could be a sneaky good team. Find the best odds to best on the Broncos now by using onlinecasinosnoop.com.
