2023 SheBelieves Cup Preview:

Talking about the USA side first, five-time winners will be entering the event as defending champions after they won the 2022 edition under current manager Vltako Andonovski. In fact, out of the previous seven editions, hosts have won five of them, including the last three editions (2020, 2021, 2022).

They’ve returned to home soil after pair of victories in New Zealand and will be looking forward to continuing their good form against fierce rivals Canada, an opponent they’ve faced 63 times, winning 52 out of them.

2023 SheBelieves Cup Format:

Four teams, Brazil, Japan, the USA, and Canada, will take on each other in a round-robin format like in previous years. The winner will be decided by the number of total points (three for a win and one point for drawing).

Overall goal difference will be the first tie-breaker, then the number of goals scored and then the head-to-head result. If teams are still tied after these tie-breakers, Fair Play ranking, based on yellow and red cards, will be the next tie-breaker.

It’s worth mentioning that each team can make six substitutions per game, over three sub opportunities and two concussions subs, if required.
