While the third UFC PPV of 2022 did not feature a title fight, the Main Event of UFC 272 did feature a grudge match of Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal; two former friends who turned into bitter rivals. The main card featured knockouts and insane fights going to decision. After winning by unanimous decision, many have been asking how much did Colby Covington make? Let’s take a look at the full UFC 272 payouts from Saturday’s event.

UFC 272 Payouts and Win Bonuses

The official UFC 272 payouts are not released, since the Nevada Athletic Commission doesn’t release fighter pay info. In other words, the following numbers are not official. However, we can make an accurate estimation based on past UFC payouts and other information we know about the fighters. Win bonuses are usually the same as the fighter’s base salary.

We also know that Colby Covington decided to not receive PPV points for this fight, as he said “I forgoed the pay-per-view. I don’t care about the pay-per-view for this fight. This is a personal fight. I want to come and put on a show for the UFC and show that I’m deserving of being a lifetime UFC fighter.”

UFC 272 Bonuses

Much like other events, UFC bonuses of $50,000 are given to the fighters of the “fight of the night,” as well as two performance bonuses.

Fight of the Night: Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal

The Main Event of Covington vs Masvidal was deemed the Fight of the Night, giving both fighters another $50,000. The fight went the full five rounds and was action-packed from start to finish. Clearly, this is the fight everyone tuned in for, and it did not disappoint.

Performance Bonuses: Maryna Moroz and Kevin Holland

These two worthy fighters will be walking away with $50,000 extra as well.

Good for the Ukrainian Maryna Moroz! She scored an emotional victory over rival Mariya Agapova. Taking the fight to the mat early in the second round, Moroz submitted her opponent with an arm triangle.

Kevin Hollard, in his first fight in the Welterweight Division, got a big win over Alex Oliveira. After a shaky first round that ended with him on the mat, he came into the second round much more aggressively. He quickly dropped Cowboy, getting the knockout win.

How Much Did Colby Covington Make | Salary and Bonuses

In the main event of the night, both fighters had their moments. Late into the fight, after Colby Covington had been controlling the bout, Jorge Masvidal had a clean shot on Covington’s chin. However, he pulled a Nate Diaz and allowed his opponent to recover.

In the end, Covington was vastly superior in wrestling and grappling, which proved to be the difference. He ended up winning by unanimous decision. Afterward, he called out Dustin Poirier to be his next fight.

So, how much did Colby Covington make in UFC 272? He could have made hundreds of thousands of dollars off PPV buys, but he denied it. It’s unknown if he got some sort of win bonus as a replacement. Still, as for guaranteed money, Covington made around $500,000. He also got an unknown amount of sponsorship money from tonight, then another $50,000 from his Fight of the Night bonus.

Again, as always, the official numbers will not be officially known. Still, these UFC payouts from UFC 272 on Saturday are a strong estimation.
