The UConn Huskies and Northwestern Wildcats will face off in the second round of the 2024 NCAA Basketball Tournament. In their first tournament game, UConn continued their dominant play, defeating Stetson 91-52. Northwestern did not have as easy of a time in round one, needing overtime to beat Florida Atlantic. With one team playing like the best in the sport and the other having the ability to knock off any opponent, it could be difficult to make a UConn vs Northwestern prediction.

UConn vs Northwestern Prediction | March Madness Expert Picks
UConn continued its postseason dominance in round one with a 91-52 win over Stetson. The Huskies are firing on all cylinders right now and appear to have no weaknesses in their game. They can shoot it from outside, make plays off the dribble, score on the inside, and defend at a high level. All five starters were in double figures against Stetson, a consistent theme for this UConn team.
As for Northwestern, they survived a late surge from Florida Atlantic that sent the game into overtime. Thankfully for the Wildcats, Ryan Langborg scored 12 of his 27 points in that overtime and led them to a 77-65 win. This team is battling injuries with two key contributors currently out, but they still can play with anyone in the country. Northwestern has wins over Purdue and Illinois thanks to two heroic performances from star point guard Boo Buie. Buie is averaging 19.3 points and is one of the best crunch-time players in that sport thanks to his playmaking and shotmaking prowess.
The question for Northwestern is whether or not they’ll be able to get enough contributions from everyone else in order for Buie to have a chance to take over the last five minutes. Under proven otherwise, I am working under the assumption that almost nobody has a chance to do that against UConn. The Huskies are simply too talented, athletic, and well-coached for Northwestern to win this game. For our UConn vs Northwestern prediction, we are picking the UConn Huskies to win and move on in the NCAA Tournament.
