After winning Super Bowl LIV with the Kansas City Chiefs and appearing in another, superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill wanted a big pay raise. Instead, the Chiefs traded Hill in 2022 to the Miami Dolphins for a 2022 first-round pick (which Miami previously acquired from the San Francisco 49ers), a 2022 second-round pick, two fourth-round picks, and a 2023 sixth-round pick. Hill would immediately sign a four-year, $120 million extension.
While he was paid handsomely, the amount of team success was low, and the Chiefs would solidify themselves as a dynasty without him. Kansas City Chiefs
This one makes too much sense, right? Under Andy Reid, Tyreek Hill became one of the most dangerous weapons the NFL had ever seen. Reid was also able to rehabilitate the public image of Hill, which is always something the troubled wide receiver could use.
Both Hill and the Chiefs limp into this offseason licking their wounds. Hill, who will turn 32 prior to free agency, is rehabbing a multi-ligament knee injury. The Chiefs, on the other hand, missed the playoffs after spending a decade playing in AFC Championship games. With Travis Kelce looking likely to return, could the Chiefs field the trio of Patrick Mahomes, Kelce and Hill one more time?
Signing a one-year deal presents Hill with the opportunity to chase a Super Bowl, but he can also thrive in Kansas City and once again earn a new contract thanks to the offense of Andy Reid. Everybody wins, except for the rest of the NFL.
Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills have really struggled to build a receiving corps once the relationship with Stefon Diggs soured. They tried to bring in veteran wide receiver Amari Cooper, but clearly, Cleveland sucked the soul out of him beforehand. Buffalo has to be in the running for top Tyreek Hill free agency destinations, as long as he is okay calling a cold place home once again, which is likely a real question for him.
If he is cool with the Buffalo weather, then being a focal point in an offense led by Josh Allen will be a ginormous perk, especially after playing with Tua Tagovailoa. New head coach Joe Brady will be calling plays there. Players love him, and Hill will likely enjoy his moxie as well. This could be a multi-year deal possibility for Hill, and the Bills will be a competitive team next season as well.
San Francisco 49ers
