Trey Amos Scouting Report
Strengths
Out of all the cornerbacks in this draft, Trey Amos is one of the best at being physical and sticky in short man coverage situations. He is a pest on receivers from the release and does a great job at winning jump balls. Amos has really good feet and also excels in zone coverage. In addition, on throws of 20-plus air yards, he allows a completion under 19%, according to PFF.
Weaknesses
Although he is a good defender on deeper routes, in matchups where it’s speed on speed, he can struggle. Amos also has trouble getting off blocks and lacks decisiveness both in the run game and jumping routes. While Amos does break up plenty of jump balls, he often falls into the habit of playing the receiver instead of turning around to make a play on the ball as well.
