The Travis Kelce fantasy football outlook has been high for many seasons. The Cincinnati product was putting up impressive numbers back in the Alex Smith days, but quickly became one of the NFL’s top weapons with the arrival of Patrick Mahomes.

Kelce, along with the rest of the potent Kansas City offense, will likely go through somewhat of an adjustment period following the departure of Tyreek Hill. The move is twofold for Kelce. It could be a net positive, with more balls thrown in his direction and a heavier dependence for the offense as a whole. It could also be a negative, allowing defenses to key in on the tight end position more closely without the every down threat of being burned deep. However he gets there, it should be another big year on tap for Travis Kelce in fantasy football.

Let’s discuss the Travis Kelce fantasy football outlook for 2022, including his stats from 2021 and give our buy or sell decision based on his current average draft position (ADP).

Travis Kelce Fantasy Outlook 2022

For the fourth straight season, Travis Kelce sits atop the tight end world in both fantasy and reality. Not many players in fantasy football history have been the first to be drafted at their position in consecutive years, let alone four years in a row. Kelce is everything you want in a tight end. Despite double coverage and strong opposing game plans, Kelce shreds defenses week after week, and has never struggled to find the end zone.

Over the past four seasons, he has averaged nearly nine touchdowns, 100 receptions and 1,300 yards. The most impressive Travis Kelce stat of all is the fact he finished as TE1 in five of his last six seasons. The only season he did not take the crown was 2021, being edged out by Mark Andrews and finishing as TE2 after missing a game.

All this is to say you should expect nothing less than everything we’ve come to know about Kelce over the majority of the last decade. Despite his age, he is still seemingly in his prime and has never been more important to the Chiefs’ success than now. If you’re a fantasy manager who puts emphasis on the TE position early, Kelce remains your best option.

Should I Draft Travis Kelce For Fantasy Football?

The ADP of Travis Kelce was taken from Fantasy Football Calculator for PPR scoring on August 31st. It sees Kelce taken with the 17th (2.04) pick and first tight end drafted. At this ADP, he is an absolute must-draft for any manager who doesn’t like to roll the dice or stream the position. If you pass on Kelce at this ADP, you are likely doing it in favor of the 11th or 12th-ranked running back, or the sixth or seventh-ranked wide receiver. The value of those players just doesn’t compare to the Travis Kelce fantasy reliability, stability and results.

If you have never been the type to draft a TE in the first few rounds, we aren’t recommending you switch up your entire draft strategy. However, if you are drafting the best player available, Kelce is the correct choice at his given ADP. Receiver depth can be found down the board while running back and especially tight end are much harder if you do not get the top guys. Given his track record, his quarterback and new offensive situation, Travis Kelce is a buy at this ADP.
