The 2024 NFL Draft is shaping up to be an exciting one, with many top-tier players and teams seemingly willing to trade. We may even see a team trade up to draft their punter for the next decade, as Iowa’s Tory Taylor looks to be as much of a can’t-miss prospect as there is.
Coming over from Australia to play college football at Iowa, Taylor set records while being one of the Hawkeyes’ best players. He’s a complete player who many teams will be interested in, but who will pull the trigger and draft a punter before the final rounds of the draft? Below, we will give a Tory Taylor draft projection from many industry experts, as well as look at a Tory Taylor draft profile and scouting report.
Tory Taylor NFL Draft Profile 2024
Tory Taylor
Position: P
Height: 6’4″

Tory Taylor Stats
Tory Taylor has stats and records to back up the hype. The punter out of Australia set an FBS record in 2023 for punt yards in a season, at 4,479. He also has the record for highest career average punting yards (46.3).
Taylor has had 40 punts of 50+ yards, and he has downed it inside the 13-yard line 23 times. These are unbelievable numbers for anyone, but remember, he did this in the elements at Iowa. That is the key to him getting drafted early.
Tory Taylor Highlights
When is the 2024 NFL Draft?
The 2024 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 25, beginning at 8 p.m. ET. Only Round 1 will take place on Thursday. Rounds 2-3 will take place on April 26th, with the remaining four rounds wrapping up on Sunday, Apil 27th. There will be 257 players selected across the seven rounds, with many more getting phone calls immediately afterward.
Tory Taylor Combine Results
Unfortunately, Tory Taylor did not participate in the 2024 NFL Combine testing. He did kick the ball while he was there, though. Everyone knows what Taylor is — a consistent, high-efficiency punter. Given his reputation and his position, it’s not a surprise that he didn’t test at the Combine.
Tory Taylor Scouting Report
Strengths
You could make a case that Tory Taylor was the best player on the Iowa Hawkeyes last season, and a really strong case could be made that he was the best non-defensive player on the team. He said it best: “What separates me from other people is my high level of consistency, and just being able to back it up as well.”
Taylor has a monster leg while also showing precision. He has done it at a consistent level despite what the Big Ten weather has thrown at him. Taylor has also always punted in close games, given Iowa’s offense.
Weaknesses
There truly isn’t much to dislike, unless you’re not a fan of the Australian accent. Some may be turned off because he’s 26 years old, but if you get eight years out of any punter, or any player, it should be considered a success.
