“There were nine mistakes ahead of me.”- Josh Rosen.
After being drafted Number 10 overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2018 NFL Draft, Josh Rosen made that statement and will now have his chance to prove that. Rosen won’t be the only rookie making their first NFL start, as Baker Mayfield will takeover the reigns for the Cleveland Browns after a great debut in the second half of week 3. It is now the Baker Mayfield and Josh Rosen era in Cleveland and Arizona. What Should we expect from the rookie quarterbacks this weekend?
Baker Mayfield
After Tyrod Taylor went down in week 3, Baker came in and threw for 200 yards, with a 73.9% completion rate. Against a 0-3 Oakland Raiders team, Baker could have a great first Start to his NFL career. Oakland ranks 26th in pass defense and is having a horrible start to the new Jon Gruden era. If Baker can connect with Jarvis Landry and David Njoku consistently, he could be in for a huge game against a struggling Oakland defense. The Cleveland Browns could actually start a win streak for the first time in four years, thanks to Baker Mayfield and the new look offense.
Josh Rosen
The Arizona Cardinals are 0-3, after only scoring 20 points in the first three games of the season. They will now turn to rookie quarterback Josh Rosen for a spark. It’s not the best situation for Josh Rosen to be thrown into, but he has a huge chance to show he’s the face of the franchise going forward. Josh Rosen will be going against the Seattle Seahawks and their new look defense that has held their own through the first three games. Expect Rosen to have a decent game while targeting Larry Fitzgerald a lot.
