The Case For Puka Nacua to Finish As WR1 in Fantasy Football

Puka Nacua is known as one of the best young wide receivers in the NFL. Here is a case why Nacua is going to finish as WR1 in fantasy football this year.

The Case For Puka Nacua to Finish As WR1 in Fantasy Football

Rookie Year | Puka Nacua Fantasy

In his rookie campaign, Puka Nacua went off. He racked up over 1,400 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Nacua did all of this as another star receiver was next to him for 12 games in Cooper Kupp. Nacua came into the league as a late-round pick out of BYU. Nobody expected Nacua, a fifth-round pick, to have a 1,400-plus yard season as a rookie. Being in the same wide receiver room as Cooper Kupp has to help a young rookie wide receiver like Nacua.

Cooper Kupp is one of the best route runners in the NFL, and any advice you can get from Kupp will help you break out just like Nacua did. Nacua finished as WR4 in his rookie year. In the fantasy playoffs (Week 15-17), Nacua finished as WR3. He was clutch when it mattered most for our fantasy football teams, even as a rookie.

Second Year

Year 2 had some ups and downs for Nacua. Puka only played in 11 games due to an injury, but his season was still very productive. He finished the year with just south of 1,000 yards receiving, with 990. He also had four touchdowns. Obviously, this is not as good as his rookie year, but it is still very productive for 11 games.

Puka Nacua was one of the most efficient wide receivers in fantasy last season. Even with his missed time, he was a very important player for most fantasy teams.

2025 Season

Nacua went off against the Houston Texans in Week 1 of the fantasy football season. Nacua caught 10-of-11 targets for 130 yards. Nacua did not find the endzone, but he still had a stellar fantasy performance. This shows Matthew Stafford views Nacua as the sole number one guy on the Rams. Yes, the Rams did bring in Davante Adams, but I cannot see Adams, on the decline of his career, stepping in the way of Puka Nacua.

There was an injury scare on Sunday with Nacua, but he did return to the game. Expect him to find the endzone this year a lot. There was not a lot of scoring on Sunday between the Texans and Rams as the final score was 14-9. Very weird to see between two high-scoring offenses. That is another thing, this Rams offense is electric and pass-first. Nacua has the right guy in Matthew Stafford running this offense and Sean McVay calling the plays. What also makes Nacua one of the best receivers in the NFL is that it doesn’t matter who is across from him — he is going to get open. On Sunday, Derek Stingley Jr. was across from him, and he is one of the best corners in the NFL. Nacua showed out and it was a good test for Nacua.

Why Nacua Can Finish WR1 in Fantasy Football

Do not be surprised if the young star receiver finishes as WR1 at the end of 2025. Nacua has the stats and resume. The big reason why I believe Nacua can finish 2025 as the WR1 in fantasy football is the opportunity and system he is in. Having Matthew Stafford as your quarterback in a Sean McVay offense, and you are the WR1 on your team, of course, you have a chance to be the best WR in fantasy football at the end of the year.

There will be many fantasy football championship teams with Puka Nacua on their roster.
